Martin I really like that idea!!!!!!! Denise
|
By Cynde Lee on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 2:27 pm: |
great one Martin...so far we have;
|
By Martin de Weger on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 2:32 pm: |
Denise, do you know a way to tell this to my boss in a way he'll accept it???
|
By Barb Holmes on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 2:42 pm: |
3. Tell boss you are going to start a "branch of the business" in Bonaire since you can't back
|
By Cynde Lee on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 2:44 pm: |
good one Barb...I already have our ceo pretty much convinced we should move the entire company there!
|
By Barb Holmes on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 2:44 pm: |
4. Remind boss that the business is closed from 12-2pm and 5pm to 8 am Mon-Fri (still lots of time to dive)
|
By Cynde Lee on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 2:46 pm: |
Barb, you are on a roll, keep em coming.
|
By Glenn Fager on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:14 pm: |
5. Give boss web cam address. Set up cube in Jake and Linda's front yard. Keep "Outbox" full to give appearance work is being performed.
|
By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:28 pm: |
6. Give spouce, boyfriend, girlfriend, pets, and co-workers t-shirts with webcam photos. Require dress code at work to be changed to t-shirts and shorts only. Require same of significant other.
|
By Mike Endrizzi on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:29 pm: |
6. Give boss web cam address. Set up cube in front of reef cam. Keep "Outbox" full to give appearance work is being performed.
|
By Bill & Cheryl Rathborne on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:34 pm: |
7. Convince all family, friends, and relatives that you should live in Bonaire so they can visit.
|
By Glenn Fager on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:38 pm: |
Good one Mike, I like reef cam better than street cam. Maybe we can include: Occasionally display rude finger gestures to camera and explain it's the Bonaire version of "Hello Boss, all is well." J
|
By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:42 pm: |
8. Learn and speak Papiamentu to boss, co-workers, and relatives (and pets).
|
By Steve Craft on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:49 pm: |
I know my contact is down there somewhere
|
By Martin de Weger on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:50 pm: |
Kevin, in the case of much of the BT-ers, just try to speak dutch, it is hard to understand for an American or someone from the little island across our little pool, called the nordsee....
|
By Cynde Lee on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:50 pm: |
great gang, good work while i was at the vet with conehead...Kevin, as a modification to number 8, "Learn Papiamentu and speak only Papiamentu to boss, co-workers, spouse, signifcant other, relatives, pets until they give in and TELL you move there. (or maybe that is what you meant).
|
By Denise Kacavas on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:52 pm: |
Martin, no need to tell the boss, just be sure you are in tight with the pay roll dept so the checks keep coming (fill out a change of address so they get mailed directly to Bonaire)... Pay roll people will be glad to help out if they are offered a free place to stay and party on Bonaire :-) Denise
|
By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:54 pm: |
Cynde:I was trying to be brief, but you are correct on my intent.
|
By Denise Kacavas on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:54 pm: |
Smile Charlotte, we are all watching you ....
|
By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:55 pm: |
24 1/2 DAYS TO GO.
|
By Cynde Lee on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:55 pm: |
like the change of address thing Denise...here is Charlotte again tempting us...let's see, I wonder if she would claim my desk and outbox as her territory and play with my mouse like Cecil's cat...
|
By Cynde Lee on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 3:56 pm: |
oh, forgot the pic but Denise got it for me...thanks...Kevin, rub it in. When we finish our 12 steps, you better take them with you so you can begin working on it on your flight back home...

Home is where the heart is, if my hearts in Bonaire, then I'm only going back to (yuck) work.
|
By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:04 pm: |
Not that I want to make everyone feel bad, but I was Jonesing bad for a dive this weekend. I went out of Miami to an artificial reef/wreck. I was rewarded with a visit from not 1, but 5 small MANTA rays. They cam in off the sand in mid-water and cirled for about 2 minutes. Thought I was going to cry it was so nice.
|
By Martin de Weger on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:06 pm: |
Kevin, one of the official languages on Bonaire is... yep, Dutch...
|
By Cynde Lee on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:08 pm: |
thanks Kevin, did you get any pics?
|
By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:13 pm: |
Your point is well taken Martin. I should try to learn both J
|
By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:17 pm: |
I was hunting lobster and had my head under the wreck. It was by chance I looked out over the sand and spotted them. I've been diving 20 years and this was a first for me. If I had I camera I probabley would have forgot I did since I was so captivated by them.
|
By Denise Kacavas on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:17 pm: |
Kevin, I am going to Boca for a week on 2/2.. my family/friends there feel it is too cold to dive but will do one just to make me happy when I am there. I was starting to think all Floridians were too wimpy to dive in "winter". Glad you proved me wrong :-)

By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:19 pm: |
Question: What dock is that in the distance on the right side of the North Beach Cam?

By Denise Kacavas on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:19 pm: |
Did you get any lobsters???

Air temp was 80, Water temp was 72, visibility was about 40', and the ocean was runinng 2'. I happy to prove you wrong ;-)

Thank you Glen.

By Kevin Mac on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:30 pm: |
Denise: Let me know if you plan on diving. I can recommend a few reliable operations. I would highly recommend taking a ride down to Pennekamp and doing the park. If the ocean is calm you will really like it.
|
By Denise Kacavas on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:32 pm: |
fish in the distance :-)
|
By Denise Kacavas on Monday, January 21, 2002 - 4:38 pm: |
Kevin, please email me the ops you recommend. Keep in mind I would probably have to go with one who could match me up with a dive buddy as I'll be alone this time. Last time I went to Pennekamp it was way too rough to dive, and the only time I dove the Keys the dive master was arrogant, full of himself, and dive location was poor choice. But I don't give up. Last winter I dove off Del Ray (I think? just South of Boca..) and saw a sleeping nurse shark - cool!!- and a sea turtle. Great dive. ...not like Bonaire ofcourse

Speaking of wimpy Floridians. When I was at the Galapogos in 2000, there were a bunch of Florida divers wearing dry suits with long johns and complaining about how cold they were. I was wearing my 3/16"(5mm) wetsuit and was comfortable. The only physical problem I had was that the water was rather choppy with a fair sized swell and I am one of those who get mal de mer easily, and the only seasick pill that doesn't made it worse puts me to sleep. I ended up feeding the fishes several times and spent a good deal of the time above water just trying to keep dinner where it belonged.
