What are some good spots for breakfast near Buddy's? I think I remember Mangos being recommended but I think that has closed now.

If you're staying at Buddy's on the Drive and Dive Special, the breakfast buffet at Buddy's is included. Pretty substantial and not bad: bacon, sausage, cereal, fruit, yogurt and made to order omelettes and eggs. Croissants aren't bad either. You can also squeeze your own fresh squeezed orange juice, and coffee or tea is included. A quick and easy way to fuel up for the day.

Hmm....maybe I will think about adding that in. I originally planned to try some different spots so I omitted it from our package.

To my way of thinking, there's plenty of opportunity to check out dining spots for lunch and dinner. At breakfast, I find it real convenient to just walk over to the buffet, enjoy the magnificent view over the dock and the water, have breakfast, and have the convenience of being able to go back to your room, get ready, then either jump on a dive boat or throw your gear in the truck and get on with your diving day. There's plenty of food there, and while it's certainly not world class, it's pretty decent. The custom made omelletes and fresh squeezed OJ kinda make it for me.

I think Edie still has the buffet at Sand Dollar but at Den Laman in the AM. I love his pumpkin fritters...

If you are staying at BD I would just add the breakfast for all the reasons Scott mentioned. Otherwise, the Lost Penguin and the City Cafe are good choices. If Eddie and Sonya are serving the buffet at SD, they are great as well.

Anyone know if Eddie and Sonya are still doing the waterfront buffet at SD? In addition to the Lost Penquin, that's one of my biggest favorites. Good food, nice people and to-die-for location.

Great Escape has a fantastic cook who does Cuban breakfasts--great peppers and eggs--totally delicious--in a lush tropical environment. Of course, it is located in Belnem but well worth the stop before or after snorkeling/diving at Tori's Reef etc.

Thanks for the info Pauline. We had been to Great Escape on our first trip in 1999, and enjoyed it, then next time it wasn't so good, so we haven't been back. I've heard very good things about the new ownership, and will plan breakfast there this year.

Both Divi and Lost Penguin have an advantage of American Coffee. Also, the Belgian waffles at Lost Penguin are excellent, especially with their homemade syrups. The cinnamon French toast at Divi is very good too.

OK now I am going to have to goto the Lost Penguin for Eggs Benedict at least one day even if we do the meal plan.

The Great Escape is at EEG Boulevard 97, south of the airport. When EEG Boulevard splits into EEG Boulevard and Punt Vierkant, we are on the left. We are close to Belmar, Happy Holiday Homes, and Belair, north of Lighthouse Beach Resort, and south of Coco Palm Gardens.
