If you are referring to the new Indonesian snack in the nicely renovated blue-painted building north of Kaya Grandi, then I second your vote! One of my colleagues at Buddy Dive had suggested I try it, and I was very pleased she did. I was happy with everything we ordered (don't ask me what it was...) and the combination of spices the chef used was incredible. Also I had the first egg roll that tasted like the ones we Americans are used to getting in the states. (No offense to the other Bonairean snacks or chinese restaurants.) We got our order to go, had a cold beer while we waited, and everything was still nice and hot when we got home. Enjoyed every bit and plan to make a habit out of going!

I, too, highly recommend this wonderful restaurant (Warung Ketjil) for its great food, friendly owners and its convenience and outdoor ambiance. I will again post this pic of the man who runs this great place (Salamat Makan?)......what a smile!! Can't wait to return to his place this November. I was considering asking him to cater our Thanksgiving dinner on the island!! We brought home one of his menus to be ready for the next time....but, there is no question as to what we will order...it will be the Rijsttafel for two! Carole

Carol....Indonesian thanks giving ristafel....hmmm...not a bad idea! Diana's father is Indnesian and he makes lots of the same dishes, only HOTTER! Do you think we can get lompeia (egg roll) made to look like a turkey?

Michael: Where there is a will, there is a way! I'll bet we can shape them into a Pilgrim, if we truly wanted to!! I am dead serious about a Rijsttafel Thanksgiving dinner. I think it would be fabulous. We will throw in a turkey, too, of course for tradition's sake...and for enjoyment, too, but think it over......hmmmmm. Yummmmm. the HOTTER the better for me, too!

Just a side note. I never had Indonesian food until I went to Bonaire. However, since living in Jakarta for the past year and a half I have found that the Indonesian food that is on Bonaire is a Dutch style. This is from observation and discussions with locals.

Diana's favorite is the head of the whole fish, eyes and all. A lot of the indonesian food here is also influenced by Surinam cooks as well.

For some strange fate, when we are served fish, the head always seems to point my way and has this stange habit of staring at me.....
