Can anyone recommend an operator for doing the Klein Bonaire float trips? How long do they last and how far do you float? Also, any recommendations on 5 or 6 other snorkeling sights would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

hi donna, welcome to bonairetalk. you can take the water taxi to klein and i think you can arrange your own time for pickup. other good sites are andrea I and II, 1000 steps, oil slick, donkey beach, and quite a few others but those are my favorites for diving or snorkeling. those that i mentioned are accessible as shore dives or snorkels.

Donna, another option is a trip on the Woodwind. They do snorkel and drift snorkels to Klein, and I believe some of the shore sites as well. do a Search for "Woodwind" at the bottom of the page and you will find the link to their website

Google for "woodwind bonaire" and you'll find them. We had a great time with Dee and Ulf of the Woodwind. We highly recommend them

Are there any snorkel groups where a single can join the fun or find an adventurous buddy? I'd like to go to the various sites around the island, in the park and other places away from habitation. But, doing it solo is a bit off-putting, since I'm a stranger in a strange land and don't want to get into negative safety situations.

ruth, i wouldn't worry too much about personal safety. bonaire is one of the safest, if not THE safest, places we've gone. petty theft is more common than muggings, etc. i'm sure you will be able to meet other snorkelers who would like you to join them. when will you be there?

Ruth, also check out the woodwind link above, and contact Renee (Darlene has her website I believe). Caution about snorkeling, don't leave ANYTHING on the beach. Buy a little waterproof case to put keys, et all in and a string that attaches around your wrist.
