Thursday night, disoriented by the street lights, a newly hatched loggerhead turtle came up all the way to the edge of the road in front of our house at Playa Lechi. The same night at Harbour Village Resort, six hatchlings came up onto the beach there. Harbour Village turned off their lights and four of the hatchlings swam back out to sea. Two of the hatchlings refused to swim away and were released the next day. We also waited until the next day to release the turtle that we found. We took it out in a boat to the open sea. I hope they survive!

Here are some pictures of the loggerhead hatchling. In the third picture you can see the yolk sac.
