Hello,

My husband and I will be returning for our third visit to Bonaire in June. I read a post on Bonairetalk that mentioned the opinion that one of the best birding locations in Bonaire was at Harbor Village Hotel. Birding was not the topic of the post; this was just an offhand observation included. Now, of course, I can't find the post. I wondered if anyone could tell me where at the resort might be a good place to sit and bird watch. I have a vague memory that the post might have been talking about the parking lot?!

We have been birding with Jerry twice and loved it and may do so again, but this trip I thought it might be fun to try some new things, since we're more relaxed about not trying to see and do everything in one visit. We'd also like to try seeing the flamingos take off en masse. Do I recall that that take place at sunrise down by the salt pans daily?

Thanks for any feedback you can give us on the above or other thoughts for some new Bonaire adventures.

Janet

Thanks, Freddie,

You have a great memory (or post searching skills). It was in that thread, and my memory was correct, the HV parking lot is noted as a great bird watching site.

I'm thinking maybe they have a breakfast restaurant open early and we should visit the resort early one am and see what we see.

It is cold and grey here. Can't wait to be in Bonaire and see those pretty birds.

Thanks again. Janet

You will need a reservation for HVBR restaurants or at least call them in advance.

Michael,

Thanks for the reservation tip. I wouldn't have realized that was necessary for breakfast.
