Last night we tagged and fitted a transmitter on a female loggerhead off Southwest Corner on Klein. We estimate she weights in the neighborhood of 280 lbs. She's the second turtle of the season to be equipped with a transmitter. Her name is 'Happy' and she is sponsored by the Rotterdam Zoo.

The yet to be name male hawksbill that had a transmitter affixed on June 8 is still in the waters around Bonaire.

If you are interested in following the course of these animals please go to

Andy, what a "Happy" face! 280 pounds? Wowzers, that's a big girl! Is she laying eggs right now or has she laid most and is ready to trek home?

Checked out the website, you need to put something about the t-shirts you now have available for purchase on island! I plan to stop by and get one in October:-)

Thanks again for the update!

Thanks, again, Andy...these creatures fascinate me and we really appreciate the hard work and efforts all of you have put into this system and program. Keep up the great work.

If you can, folks, support this program via donations. I believe you can do this via the SupportBonaire program/site. Thanks, Carole

Hi All,

'Happy' departed Bonaire on the evening of June 29 after laying another nest at No Name Beach. Last report she was approximately 60 plus miles north of Klein.

Follow her progress at STCB, our website

Cynde, thanks for mentioning the need to add a reference for the T-Shirts on the website. I will bring it to the webmaster's attention.

Andy

I'm always amazed at how far they can travel in such a short span of time...simply amazing creatures. Thanks, Andy! Carole
