Yes, it looks like two hurricanes will arrive in Bonaire today, Freddie and Lili. The second does look like a miss to the North, the first should be a hit later today, look for the Green Hat.

Hi Cynde,

Busy at work, but fine otherwise. I have been remiss in visiting and chatting. When I saw Lili getting close I became concerned so I popped in with a NOAA capture for everyone.
Diving's been few and far between. We went to Pennecamp back in July and my camera jammed on the first dive.. a big bummer.

These storm clouds are rolling in from the south, but are associated with Lili. I fear the weather is going to be a bit wet soon. s

Here's the latest from NOAA

Hi Ida,

If you look at the NOAA picture about 5 posts earlier you will see several things. Along the bottom is the northern coast of Venezuela. Along the top from left to right are Jamaica, Haiti/Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Lili is smack dab in the middle. Just above the coast of Venezuela are three islands, Aruba Curacao, and beloved Bonaire. Boniare is about to be overrun by a big group of thunderstorms which is being sucked up into Lili. Yeah! it's Lili that's going to soak Bonaire.

Close but no (Cubano) cigar. Count the number of stripes. They are different. Body shape is a tad different as well.

Appears the Internet connection from Curacao to Bonaire is presently inoperative. This happens from time to time (some days it happens a lot).

All images are archived on Bonaire and will be uploaded when the link returns. (Except in the event of power outages on Bonaire, since the computers there still need electrons to operate).

Hopefully the link will return soon.

Thanks Bob, When I looked at them together I could see the difference (I think). My one has less stripes that are wider apart. Is that correct. Not good at marine fishy id. Bet I don't remember it though. LOL Annie B.

Just tried to call Bonaire, and the phone circuit was quiet, then disconnected. Never rang. Will be interesting to learn if the fiber optic cable from Curacao to Bonaire was damaged or if they're got power issues on the island.

I'm on a dial-up connection right now because a lightning strike appears to have sizzled part of our leased line at approx. 5:13pm last night (which is also why the WebCams are not being properly updated from Bonaire to the Web server in the U.S.)

We got about 1.7 inches of rain in about an hour. Our power died around 6pm or so, and didn't come back until about 10:30pm, to add insult to the matter. Almost no wind the whole time, but enough to blow rain into our rear windows and put a major puddle in the house - another good reason for tile floors :-)

Jake

There wasn't any surge, was there?

Sounds like Lili sucked the air right off Bonaire...wind reversal, most likely. It also sounds like it brought lots of rain and storms off South America over on top of Bonaire last night. Must have been quite an exciting evening on Bonaire last nite. Hope there was no damage done similar to Lenny in '99. Hope to hear from the folks on Bonaire soon...hope all is well. Carole

PS Jake: I believe "wind driven rain" damage might be covered under your homeowners policy....it's all in the way it is worded....hope you only had a puddle of water on the tiles..be careful that no one slips on the wet tile, tho! I broke some front teeth in Lauderdale that way! LOL.

We didn't have any real damage from the water, thanks to our tile floors and quick action.
