Them folks were Joan & Alan Zale, regulars here on BonaireTalk, with a very nice offering of cakes and cookies (look on the left of me) :-)

Good Therapy!

Dear Jake,

Many thanks to you and the web cam supporters. I am a child/adolescent therapist in the states of Georgia and South Carolina, U.S.A. who has found the web is a great tool to connect with youth.
Many of these young people have never seen the ocean, much less ever dreamed of seeing underwater photos "live" of the big blue and its creatures. I witness the thrill and awe in their expressions as they scan the computer screen for any new and different image. I usually leave the computer "tuned" to Bonaire webcam during the eight hours at work. I selfishly enjoy my mental image of seeing the camera mounted on the mooring site in person while staying at the Black Durgon Inn on Bonaire in January 2001.

It is such a fine tool to educate and provide a meaningful link with youth.
Thanks!

Smiles (:>)

You've got to love these people. I wonder if the people back home will accomodate them?

I know just how they feel. Leaving on the plane yesterday, I tried to convince the airline people I was being kidnapped and removed forcibly from the island. RATS, they'd heard that one before.

most excellent plan for our visit this summer -- you'll all have to deal with our kids and all their messaging, but hey, a great way to tell the folks back home just how much bonaire is worth the trip! we'll schedule it and make it a regular thing... in front of the reef cam, too!
cheers!

Jack:

Try this, it has taken us all a few tries the first time...keep trying!

1. Saving a WebCam shot: Put the cursor over the picture. Right-click your mouse. A menu box pops up. Choose "Save Image As...". So type in the
filename you want, choose JPEG format, and select the folder you want to save it in on your computer.

2. Posting to this site is a little trickier. In your message, type:

\image {description}

but delete the space I typed between image and {description), the entire section needs to be typed with no spaces. Make sure you use the squiggly parens...{}...not the regular parens().

3. Click the preview/post message button. And the black and yellow "Your Image Here graphic" should appear in the preview.

4. Click the Post message box. A new message appears that asks for the filename and location of the picture on your computer. Click the browse button to find your file, and click the Upload button.

It's better if it's not huge. Make sure your homemade pictures are about 3" x 4" at 72 dpi, or 72 ppi

oh...just an FYI, the description in the {} is your file name that you want to insert.

Dawn, it's definitely not just you. Somebody should do an ink blot test on this group. On the reef cam, you can see a golden sea horse. On this board, you can get the URL for unlimited smileys. Want to bet which one most of us would take? Not me. BTW I was asking Hazel what the two of you meant by =). I thought it meant "with child". I know now it's a smiley. BTW2,very clever the way you slipped in an hors d'oeuvre from the Jimmy Buffet on the other thread. If I didn't laugh, I would be insane.(sorry, bad pun)
