Does anyone else see a fish in the cloud? Or am I just missing the underwater cam too much!
|
By Cindy Reed on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 6:36 pm: |
yes, it looks like it's diving back into the water. must be a flying fish.
|
By Becky Grennan on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 6:47 pm: |
So I have a question? How does that little dog get up on the fence?
|
By Leigh Ann on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 6:53 pm: |
Here's a sunset and the dogs taking turns at the gate! Becky, he jumps I think!

Here's a last try before I stop even lurking for 12 days. I don't know if I have them all small enough.

Going West?
|
By Cindy Reed on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 8:13 pm: |
Becky, we once saw Blikje getting up there & it looks like she climbs.
|
By Linnea Wijkhof-Wimberly on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 8:22 pm: |
I'm going way west to Yap to dive with the mantas. 24 hours from door to door. Two plane changes, I hope my luggage makes the changes. I have stuffed everything I can into my carryons. Mask, camera, lenses, reg, bathing suit, toothbrush and paste, sign, etc. I leave at o'godawful tomorrow morning, but I don't come back until the 17th.
|
By Freddie Hughes on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 8:26 pm: |
Linnea, You will love Yap. where are you staying ? at the Manta ray Bay hotel?? If you get a chance go up the hill to Tradersridge and ask to see the rooms...
|
By Linnea Wijkhof-Wimberly on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 8:53 pm: |
I'm staying at the Manta Ray Bay, I plan on checking out the Pathways and Traders Ridge. I didn't get the meal plan, because I don't eat much breakfast or lunch and want to check out local places. Freddie or anyone else, do you have any recommendations?
|
By Freddie Hughes on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 9:14 pm: |
We found that manta Ray was expensive with the food. We had a very nice dinner at tradersridge and at the local bar just up the road from Manta ray. Do take the native tour so you can see the stone money and hear the natives sing and dance. Don't chew the betel nut..ugh .. it will make your teeth red....

Ok, gotta do a comparison of what 5 months can do with a HUGE dog!

Have a great Trip!!! night night everyone

By Cindy Reed on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 9:40 am: |
Cynde, I can't believe you found that pic of Blikje. I was just too tired to look for it last night. You don't realize how big Grendle has grown till you see her side-by-side like that.
|
By Rusty Clark on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 10:04 am: |
And I thought Princess was growing fast - but she's topping out at 50 lbs or so at 10 months... Boxers can get bigger, but this is a nice size for a house dog.

Becky, you're welcome, but it was Cynde who found it. I'm "the other" Cindy (with a i)

By Cynde Lee on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 1:45 pm: |
Becky, you will fall in love with Bonaire. We were there last sept and brought goodies for the entire Richter family (toys and cookies for the puppies). Blijke is a SWEETHEART!!! I love that dog!
|
By Sally Belknap on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 1:55 pm: |
Since I'm new, can someone pronouce Blikje's name for me? I think "blickee". Is that right?
|
By Hazel Scharosch on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 2:10 pm: |
Hi, Sally. Martin, who is Dutch, says it's pronounced more like "blick ya." Those dogs really belong to all of us BTers - they just "live" with the Richters!

A blikje is most importantly a 'little' beer can - only 8 oz.

just a little half pint Martin made a wave file of him pronouncing it a while back...i will try to search on my lunch break for it...

Cynde, I'll save you the trouble, here is a new one....

By Cynde Lee on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 4:18 pm: |
Thanks Martin!

By Martin de Weger on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 4:20 pm: |
NP, I would like to hear one of you guys say either Blikje or Grendel....
|
By Cindy Reed on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 5:18 pm: |
You'd love my version Martin. It'd have a little bit of southernese in it. I don't have a "Gone With the Wind" accent, but I do have a little. Though, I think Blikje is fairly easy to say. I'll hook up the mic & see if it works.
|
By Rusty Clark on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 5:46 pm: |
Oooh - that's going in my wav collection with Groucho, The Blues Brothers and The Bowery Boyz! Now we need a Good Morning for the early threads!

By Cynde Lee on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 5:47 pm: |

|
By Cindy Reed on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 6:05 pm: |
I sent it to Martin and he swears he didn't laugh. I'll never be able to get the Grendel one right, can't roll my rrrrr's.
|
By Martin de Weger on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 6:07 pm: |
Sorry, I had to ZIP them, they are to big...
|
By Cindy Reed on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 6:32 pm: |
Cynde, I can only do certain things the scarlett way. I don't think this is one of them.
|
By Hazel Scharosch on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 7:18 pm: |
...in Wyoming, it's crik instead of creek, aig instead of egg, worsh instead of wash, and sometimes ax instead of ask. Teaching phonics and spelling skills is sometimes a challenge!

By Niki Harris on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 8:52 pm: |
Martin, that's fun to listen to... Cindy, you gonna let us hear what you sent Martin? (I haven't figured out how to do this trick myself...)
|
By Martin de Weger on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 3:03 am: |
Niki, It's easy, just connect a mic to your PC and use the soundrecorder...
|
By Cindy Reed on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 8:59 am: |
I don't know Niki, I was so far off on Grendel. I tried to practice with the Irish next door, but even they had a little trouble with it. I can't say Och right either. Just can't get to the back of the throat. LOL
|
By Martin de Weger on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 3:59 pm: |
Cindy, I think you should post it, it was not bad at all. I think you might have been laughing when you listened to my voice (or read all the type errors I make... )
|
By Cindy Reed on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 4:17 pm: |
Not at all Martin, you have a great voice and I'd never laugh at other peoples typos. I make too many myself and I'm a lousy speller.
|
By Martin de Weger on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 4:28 pm: |
Cynde, Hazel and Rusty, do you accept the challange???
|
By Cynde Lee on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 5:44 pm: |
I don't have a mic at work, I don't think I have one at home....I will look tonight...I will try a left coast drawwwllllll
|
By Martin de Weger on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 5:46 pm: |
OK, 2 down, 2 to go!
|
By Cindy Reed on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 5:58 pm: |
