I'm going way west to Yap to dive with the mantas. 24 hours from door to door. Two plane changes, I hope my luggage makes the changes. I have stuffed everything I can into my carryons. Mask, camera, lenses, reg, bathing suit, toothbrush and paste, sign, etc. I leave at o'godawful tomorrow morning, but I don't come back until the 17th.

I will post a trip report and pics on Everything Else when I get back. No web cams, but a fantastic web site at www.mantaray.com. I expect to develop a case of PYD to go along with my PBD.

I'm staying at the Manta Ray Bay, I plan on checking out the Pathways and Traders Ridge. I didn't get the meal plan, because I don't eat much breakfast or lunch and want to check out local places. Freddie or anyone else, do you have any recommendations?

We found that manta Ray was expensive with the food. We had a very nice dinner at tradersridge and at the local bar just up the road from Manta ray. Do take the native tour so you can see the stone money and hear the natives sing and dance. Don't chew the betel nut..ugh .. it will make your teeth red....

Cynde, I can't believe you found that pic of Blikje. I was just too tired to look for it last night. You don't realize how big Grendle has grown till you see her side-by-side like that.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Rusty Clark on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 10:04 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

And I thought Princess was growing fast - but she's topping out at 50 lbs or so at 10 months... Boxers can get bigger, but this is a nice size for a house dog.

hula

Okay Freddie - which one are you? Probably not one of the topless ladies, methinks!

Cindy,

Thanks for the detective work on Blikje. Evidently she is a great jumper but her choice of where to land is kind of strange.

I'll be going to Bonaire for the first time in September so I'll have to get over there to see her. She's so cute! They both are.

Becky, you're welcome, but it was Cynde who found it. I'm "the other" Cindy (with a i):)

Becky, you will fall in love with Bonaire. We were there last sept and brought goodies for the entire Richter family (toys and cookies for the puppies). Blijke is a SWEETHEART!!! I love that dog!

Since I'm new, can someone pronouce Blikje's name for me? I think "blickee". Is that right?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Hazel Scharosch on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 - 2:10 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Hi, Sally. Martin, who is Dutch, says it's pronounced more like "blick ya." Those dogs really belong to all of us BTers - they just "live" with the Richters!

And, unless they were pulling my leg, Blikje means beer can or somesuch! LOL

Hazel and Rusty:

Thanks! When I see pix of Blikja, I can say the name (in my head) properly. I wouldn't want to offend!

Hey Rusty! Great graphic! I can imagine my dogs doing that when I walk out of the room!

A blikje is most importantly a 'little' beer can - only 8 oz.

Ohhhhhhhhhh...that explains Blikje's unusual name!

By the way, thanks for having this website and posting area! What fun!

You'd love my version Martin. It'd have a little bit of southernese in it. I don't have a "Gone With the Wind" accent, but I do have a little.:) Though, I think Blikje is fairly easy to say. I'll hook up the mic & see if it works.

Cynde, I can only do certain things the scarlett way. I don't think this is one of them.

My mom spent years pushing me to say leg instead of laig. Though my youngest sister got away with it. She says toad instead of told.:)

...in Wyoming, it's crik instead of creek, aig instead of egg, worsh instead of wash, and sometimes ax instead of ask. Teaching phonics and spelling skills is sometimes a challenge!

I don't know Niki, I was so far off on Grendel. I tried to practice with the Irish next door, but even they had a little trouble with it. I can't say Och right either. Just can't get to the back of the throat. LOL

Not at all Martin, you have a great voice and I'd never laugh at other peoples typos. I make too many myself and I'm a lousy speller.

I'll only post it if Cynde, Hazel and Rusty do too. :) (how's that for a dare)
