Morning everyone,
Logged on for a peep at the cams knowing it was probably a bit too early even for a sunrise, and just look at the pretty jewels the moon is casting on the sea.

HEY!

You people with your Hoody Hoos: the weather here was just dandy. Roses were even starting to bud. And now we have a few inches of snow, and the low tonight expected in the single digits. You must have hoody hooed louder than I did and sent it my way. NOT very nice...

No Anita, it didn't work here either. Freeze predicted in central FL tonight. Bringing in all the poor baby plants. Of course, I sent my hoody-hoos to holland and the UK

Actually, this new dentist turned out to be young, good-looking and gentle. I am SO relieved. He asked me if I want the plain or fancy plan - and went from there... Last one thought I wanted solid gold teeth! Maybe I didn't NEED wogga-woggas before I went! LOL

xx

Rusty:
I used to be young, good looking and gentle too... now I have to settle for just being gentle. Glad things went well at your new dentist...make sure they are checking your gums. Healthy gums protect the bone and make it easier to hold a regulator in your mouth. :-)

Oh, will they ever learn? Have not I stated that my new camera is like an Albatross around my neck and I take it everywhere. Because a few people at work of said it's against the rules to have a camera (like telling an airline pilot he can't have nail clippers), I've been leaving it at home. What decided to take up residence in a tree in the parking lot?? A great Northern Harrier and the Sony's sitting at home on the counter, waaa. I did manage to get one resonable shot with the sub-standard 1.3 MegaPixel camera from work.

Harrier

Magnificent bird, lousy camera.

Hi Guys I'm back from Tenerife, the hoody Hoos must have been good coz it was hot hot hot over there, I'm guessing in the 80's. The diving was amazing, excellent vis, feed sting and eagle rays, saw dolphins (could not dive with them as saw them on from boat on way back from a dive) also passed my Advanced and Nav Speciality. Just need a really big tank and I will be able to Nav to Bonaire, save me some dollars on the plane ticket. lol. Suffered mask squeeze on 1st dive (stupid me not equalizing my mask) so I look fab with 2 black eyes and the bit of eye that should be white is totally red, I have been making up stories about wrestling sharks to make it sound a bit better, mask squeeze just sounds stupid!!!!!

I'll talk more tomorrow I have to shoot off now, I'm 'cream krackered', it's amazing how much work builds up in just 4 days!!!!!!

Chris

Jan - gentle is the BEST. I'd go to a rhinoceros if they had soft hands! :) He did a cancer check and lots of poking around the gums and seemed thorough in his exam. I'm relieved to get back into the habit of going again.

Cynde, The last time (november that was..) was no vacantion for me, I had to show 23 persons around the island...

Now we're getting a nice short holliday (about 4 weeks...) just to meet some old and new friends...

And then.... Wait for the next trip. Maybe somewhere in october or November for one week....

We don't have too much vacantion, but we work so much harder and therefore we are rewarded with some extra time off.... :)

the Buteos [buzzard hawks} are very thick set, thats why I thought it might be one, the harriers tend to be more sleek looking

Seeing as there was a commentary about the Big Chill hitting parts of the U.S. right now, I was just at our local hardware store here on Bonaire and found, to my amazement, "Snow Proof" (a type of roof sealant). Very useful on Bonaire, I would think. Not! :-)

Jake

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Cynde Lee on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 - 3:38 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

jake, that is very funny...was it full of snow showing that there is "proof" that there is snow elsewhere in the world?

Martin, would love to have ya livin' in our neck of the woods!

gosh Jake, I don't think we even have that in Florida (& we do get snow every 20 years or so).

Martin, you could have a job like my husbands. out the door at 6am, home at 8pm 5 days a week. He has 5 weeks vacation saved up and no time to use them. Not much time to enjoy our sunshine. yuck!!!

Sorry to ask what is probably obvious to most of you but - what is "mask squeeze"? I really hope it's nothing a snorkeller has to worry about... though the tales I could spin about two black eyes!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Rusty Clark on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 - 4:56 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Maybe the SNOW-PROOF is working right where it is - Jake, don't let them move it. You'd hate to be the alpine skiing capital of the Atlantic Ocean!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Cecil Berry on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 - 5:31 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Anita, mask squeeze is when you don't equalize your mask (blow air out your nose). As you descend the outside water pressure press's your mask against your face. It could happen to a snorkler if you free dive deep enough, maybe 15' of more. A simple puff of air out your nose will correct it.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Martin de Weger on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 - 6:00 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Jake, That's nice. Now you can show the kids at the island what snow is.... :)

Cynde, I'ld like to live in a warm and sunny place as well, but I discovered Bonaire about 5 years too late... If we would still have our rental appartement and our former job, we might just have moved to Bonaire, but it's quitte a big step now.... But maybe, somewhere in the future....

Cindy, Most of the time I leave home at 6.30 / 7.00 and get back around 19.00. Then a quick bite and dive in the books for one of the studies I'm doing (Divemaster and a Microsoft course..). Sometimes Angela (my girl) asks me if I'm living with her or with my computer..

But every year 5 weeks of holiday and the chance to get an extra 2 weeks of sure makes a lot of difference.

Working is fine, as long as it doesn't consume that much time.... :)

Martin, you're almost as crazy as my husband. At least you take your vacation. We usually take a week in September to Colorado and maybe 2 or 3 days in the summer.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Martin de Weger on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 - 6:21 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Cindy, I know, Crazy as a horse. But I like my job and enjoy the study enough to keep up with it.

I know I have to take time for relaxation, so every few weeks I'm off for a weekend or just a day to belgium, Spain, Germany or some place like that..
