I have a DVD of the IMAX movie "Dolphins". They have some incredible footage of dolphins feeding on a bait ball. They also have a segment showing how they filmed the 70mm footage. When I'm needing some blue water I pop that into the DVD player and drift away.

I guess I could post some not Bonaire but tropical pictures. Here's how they feed the birds in Bora Bora.

Let's try to keep it on-island. Here are some from Bonaire waters taken October 2001. (I hope they are not too big)

Cecil - the most dangerous sharks are these:
|
By Cecil Berry on Friday, February 22, 2002 - 2:13 pm: |
Rusty, all to true, they've taken every ounce of flesh I've ever produced.
|
By Cecil Berry on Friday, February 22, 2002 - 2:16 pm: |
Sorry Rusty, I never answered your question about the sharks. It was Bora Bora and the sharks were being feed by the Tahitians. The tourists were instructed to stay behind a rope, the sharks were instructed to stay on the other side of the rope. Eating of tourists is very bad for business.

Ok, on a "lighter side" here is my punkie with her cone...she actually LIKED it, and wore it faithfully the entire 12 days! Even played with the other dogs (although she was at a disadvantage as she couldn't bite them back cause of her "situation!") I could only think of poor grendel and blijke ripping the straps and chewing it up!

she is the one that has vision problems, and i think she liked it so much because it narrowed her peripherial field down and helped her focus...it was pretty funny to watch her bang into stuff!

Since Jake is probably busying helping with dinner, I will answer for him. That ruffly thing is called a lettuce slug. That is a beautiful shot of one.

OOPS, forgot about time diff. My tummy is hollering at me to go home and fill it up since is feeding time on the left coast. Jake is probably helping to clean up after the day's mischief from the dogs and kiddys. Either that or he is sitting down with a warm wife in his lap and a cold beer in his hand.

By Emily Wedin on Monday, February 25, 2002 - 9:53 am: |
Cecil? Why did the Tahitians make you stay behind ropes because of nurse sharks? They are NOT interested in us as food, and can be flipped over in your arm and put to sleep
|
By Emily Wedin on Monday, February 25, 2002 - 10:04 am: |
Oops, took a better look....black tipped reef sharks?
|
By Cecil Berry on Monday, February 25, 2002 - 1:31 pm: |
Emily, we did two shark feeding dives and a shark feeding snorkle. The pictures are from the snorkle trip, I didn't have a real UW camera at the time and I was using a disposable UW camera (only good to 15'). On the dives along with many many black tipped sharks, we saw a 9' Lemon shark, both dives, one of which was preganant. The full story is on my home web page.
