Niki - I had one of those "heel of the hand to the side of my forehead" moments when you illustrated the mirror. I was initially wondering if it was a filter or lens for the cam/case. Then it was SO obvious. Next question is WHY?

For FUN!

Try thinking of something new to do in front of the reef cam. We've seen a lot of imaginative moments...

Hi Lea, Call me ignorant but please tell me more about The Boston Blue Man Group...I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering...at least I hope I'm not the only one :-)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Carole Baker on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 - 9:13 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

I love the Blue Man Group/Band! First saw them on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno many, many years ago and could not find any of their work in the record shops (I am showing my age, again!). I would imagine it is much easier to find today as they have grown tremendously in popularity over the years. I believe they are "parked" in Las Vegas for a long stint, now, aren't they?? Lea, you are pulling our legs, right? One can never tell on this board! Carole

Oh, by the way....he looks verrrry "fuzzy" in the picture! Appears to have spines or zippers surrounding his torso....hmmmmm....What gives? Carole

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Freddie Hughes on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 - 9:34 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Carole, I agree with you it does look a bit fuzzy, however...someone would have to be VERY good to transpose this picture along with the guys shadow!! And thank you for clarifying(sic) just who the Blue Man Group is. I even found a web site for them. and get this they have an online store!! can't wait to receive the mug I ordered!!!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Carole Baker on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 - 10:18 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

I see they have lots of music available now...have to get out there and pick some up...definitely unique, they are! Yeh, I saw the shadow, too, and thought...hmmmmm, tough to fake this shot, but the zipper/porcupine look has me baffled. Doesn't take much! They've come a long way, baby!

Lea, what's the true skinny on the pic? Carole

Folks,
If you look at some of the captures that have things that are moving, like flying birds etc. you will notice the porcupine look in those things that are in motion. This seems to be more apparent when the image is shown in the larger size. I guess it's just an artifact caused by the smearing of the image on the camera sensor. The Blue Man was probably walking at a fairly good pace as he went by.

The Blue Man Group is really more a performance art group than a musical group and they are not just a single group if I have my facts straight. There is a group in Boston on what I believe is a semi-permanent basis along with another in Las Vegas, don't know if there is still one in NY City as well. This is much like the Cirque-du-Soleil which has at least four troupes in different locations that all perform under the same name.

Carole, and Megan & Eric, and folks. I happen to remember the discussion of this topic from more than a year ago. The large captures are blurry when the subjects are moving too fast. The small captures grab one frame of time (I forget, was it a thirtieth of a second?) The large captures are blends of two quick captures and combined, odd and even pixels. Like two successive thirtieths of a second cross-hatched together. I wonder if fast-moving Blue Man walked back and forth for two minutes, or was a lucky Blue Man.

The Blue Man Group has performances in many U.S. cities (simultaneously - means there's lots of Sub-groups). Saw them in NYC some time ago - excellent!

And yes, the image shift on every other line is because the Blue Man was moving, and the second field (odd lines) got captured a 30th of a second after the even lines) (video technology artifact).

Jake

Hi Everyone,
Yes I am pulling your leg. But I have seen the Blue Man Group In Boston . They were great. The Man in the picture is John and he is a Doctor. And he just looked like the blue man Group. He is in front of the underwater cam down in a few captures with his wife Margie. 15:44:04

Lea, you had us fooled! He could pass for one of the Blue Man group.
