We went to the doctor and another swab was done on his eye. The doctor is surprised that both anitbiotics did nothing (which could very well mean that the bacteria is resistant), that it did spread again to his other eye and that we didn't catch it. It might be viral. (It is not a blocked tear duct, discharge would be white.) Early next week we will find out. I'll keep you posted!

Eileen. Is it conjunctivitus. My kids had that when they were babies, and the treatment was a course of antibiotic eye drops, one bottle for each eye. The most difficult thing is trying to stop them from rubbing the eyes. Annie B.

Thank-you for the link. I do not like when Quinn's eyeball gets closed by the goop. I wonder what kind of biotics we will get this time.

Eileen. This is a difficult one to cure in babies because they do not understand not to rub their eyes. I remember Emma having a tube of antibiotic cream which was not nice to administer, but it did do the trick. You must use separate cotton wool swabs to wipe each eye, and separate flannels and towels, then wash them after every use. Poor little thing. I feel so sorry for him, and for you too. Annie B.

P.S. Wonder if Cynde has any tips here.

Try my age old recipe of 1 tspn of salt in 1 pint of warm water to bathe the eyes in conjunction with the medication. One swab for each eye.
It is the same strength at a tear. It won't do any harm. Warm hugs for you Eileen, and gentle kisses for Quinn. Annie B.

I also find that the eye drops come out easily as well, even if you hold the head still for a couple minutes. I hope I get the cream, it might stay put longer. I am glad that I have a lot of wash clothes to keep his eyeball clean.

I am glad though that it is just an infection problem, nothing else or something really serious!
