The Rinspeed sQuba. I think this is just what the sea life on Bonaire needs. We could have the ATV's on land and now the sQuba in the water. Amazing what folks will do for entertainment. And on top of that, it's environmentally friendly too!! Click on "concept vehicles" and then "squba" on the right.

I'm sure Budget or Total will have them soon enough - yeah!

Yeah, keep the windows open and don't lock the doors. :-)

Good to 10 meters. Wonder what happens after that? Do ya think it will be a good wreck dive (for those not certified) or a great place for frog fish to live?

Perfect for Lac Bay. Drive over, drive in, drive down, drive up and home. Wow!

Solar energy - and the cars - are a lot cheaper ... if these cars would just drive a little faster, instead of just 25 miles 35 or 40 miles - or if between Belnem and Kralendijk there would be a speed limit of 40km/25 miles the whole way - I would have bought this one already ..

I love the pickup .....

Brigette - I LOVE it. I think they're great. Well - maybe the speed limit can be installed and all would be good. Very cool cars/golf carts/whatever they call them.

Where would you get them repaired?

Richard, the one with the hat on the left side of the picture, said they are easy to repair.
But he is against it as he thinks I would be a hazard on that road between airport and stadium and it would be too dangerous ..... these cars have belts and everything, they are road ready and allowed in Florida on all road with speed limits of 25 miles or less, you may cross roads with highere speed limits.
Imagine, never again a gas station needed with these high prizes ! Not even an electrical outlet as the sun shine is enough for the small amount of miles you drive here on Bonaire ......

This is the car with the solar panel

Brigitte-
I LOVE these "cars"! I want one! I couldn't care less about how slow they go. The Sunray models are perfect for Bonaire. I looked around the website and didn't see the MSRP. Just curious.

Depending on the model... they are between 7500 and 15.000 (the Pickup model).

'I am appalled - appalled' that anyone would consider the use of such an underwater vehicle as the Rinspeed sQuba on Bonaire!!! The damage to the reefs would be utterly intolerable!!! Shame, shame!!!

Ah Glen - what difference does it really make - so a few tires go astray on some coral that has taken thousands of years to grow...no big deal. Besides, the coral would probably puncture the tire - well maybe the dead stuff would. Think of how many more cruise ship passengers would be attracted to the island if they knew that they could drive a James Bond car all over the place - water, land, sea - weehee! I see this as a real boom to the local economy. ;-D

Yo Mo..I certainly couldn't agree more! And I heard that some oil leaking from the engine because of the increased pressure was in fact really a good thing for the reef. And... if you really got into trouble, just step on the brakes and some of the asbestos particles from the brake shoes actually are good food for the fish. Bring 'em on :-)

Exactly Vince - And just think how easy it would be to ditch these in the local waters when they were no longer useful - no worries about whether they are already diver friendly - they are!!! Easy wreck diving or is it wreck diving made easy...either way it's a stellar idea!

Oh well, I got the words in the quote wrong: it should be, 'I'm shocked – shocked....' (Claude Raines discovering gambling in Rick's café in 'Casablanca' as he collects his winnings.)

Silliness I know but look at the time of posting. I should have resisted the temptation to post that but I didn't. Fortunately it was taken in the same vein it was written in. :–)

It's all good Glen - though I do have to say that I am LOVE with Brigette's car (well, she doesn't really have the car but all the same). I think that's super.

My kind of car even made it to the Wall Street Journal http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121746229279198963.html?mod=yhoofront

Perhaps it will be mine one day, I am still working on convincing Richard .... or perhpas the speed limit will be 40 soon anyhow, 2 accidents in the last 2 days close the airport ... isnt 40km/25m a nice speed limit there ?

I completely agree!

At that speed people can safely take their time to look at all the new buildings going on and the great (really) paintings on the Waterland Villa's wall.

Come to think of it. As live on Bonaire is starting to speed up (not favorable), why not expel all fossil oil fueled cars and force everybody to drive in these things. I sure live will slow down again.
