Another question from a nubie, since we have to go to Bonaire for either one week or two,no more 10 or 11 day vacations I guess, do we really need a car for the whole two weeks? It can get pretty costly for a two week vacation? So we were thinking if we had a car for one week is there enough to get to if you dont have a car? I understand it depends on where you stay, but say you are at one of the hotels near town.

Susan, If you stay at Divi resort close to town you will like the snorkeling on site, but you will have a need for a car to get to different sites around the Island. I will give you a link to check out rental prices: Marcolva Henriquez (Poppy)
Cell: 5163001 (24Hrs)
Telerin Car Rental
telerin@bonairelive.com
marcolva@hotmail.com
Drop this person a email, but ger other prices first, and you will see the savings... Ron
P.S. I have no other conection with Telerin except being a satisfied customer and friend...

***do we really need a car for the whole two weeks***
The answer is no you do not, but this is entirely a personal decision. If you have a dive package with your resort doing boat dives every day & you're within walking distance of town, not really necessary.
Conversely, if you plan on not diving from a boat (which is more economical) & want to take advantage of the shore diving, I'd recommend you spend the extra dollars on rental for the 2 weeks.

I 2nd the recommendation for Telerin. I went with Poppy this past May and was 100% pleased with every aspect of the rental experience. Plus, she really was the least expensive AND she will accept use of the Amex coverage.

We stayed at Divi, but wanted a truck anyway so that we would not be limited to just experiencing things within walking distance. We were already spending a lot between airfare and lodging. Having a truck at our disposal 24/7 only enhanced our enjoyment of Bonaire.

Hi,
I want to recommend www.voyagereventscarrental.com. I am still renting a car from John from this carrental.
I must say, they are the cheapest and they have great and reliable cars. They also accepted amex coverage from me. But this is not the point.
The service matters also.
Try this carrental the next time you visit Bonaire. It seems that they don't work with high and low prices. I mean High and low seasonprices.
Let me know next time you visit this great site.

Christian, welcome to Bonaire Talk. The reason Ron is asking is that your posts are a red flag that might be against the posting policies on Bonaire Talk. You can read them here:

And April? Does she work for Telerin? No need to answer.

I saw no reason to ask Christian the question Ron. As he said, he was already renting, etc...if you can read well. He merely gave Susan a recommendation.

And just saying with a P.S. doesn't mean it's a fact just because you stated you don't work for the company. Do we really know that? Of course not, but we trust you and believe you are good. So, why not the new guys?

Why is suspicion cast upon most new comers? Why do people cast doubt on the first time posts? That I think should be answered. And please, don't attack me personally. It's a legitimate question.

I don't see that Susan ever inquired about rental recommendations. Her question was "do I need a car for the whole 2 weeks". And then folks started chiming in with their favorite rental companies.

Hi Barry and others, when a new poster comes in all barrels loaded AND also is using an alias{do you really think this person is Christian Dior, if he/she is then I must start dressing a bit better while sitting at my computer} the red flags go up to the top of the pole..Perhaps we could all be more patient with each other.. and if he/she did work for that company I would hope that he/she would make sure the website posted would work..JMHO

***do we really need a car for the whole two weeks***

No. We stayed at Divi for 4 years in a row with out a car. Walk to town is fairly easy for shopping and some restaurants. Once we started renting a vehicle we did see so much of the island we had never seen and was missing, now we always rent. But you don't need one for the entire time you are on island.

You can snorkel elsewhere with Renee who picks you up and drives you. You can snorkel/dive right off Divi. You can snorkel with Dee on the Woodwind, and dive off the Divi boats as well as on the Divi's reef. If you have a car for part of the two weeks you can easily dive or snorkel all over the island and save the close by activities for when you don't have a car. This applies to other locations near town as well of course.

Enjoy your vacation :-)

Hi Barry!

As you well know, it is insanely easy to get an account here and begin posting almost immediately. When a new poster evades questions from the moderators, seems to be promoting a business on several different threads, and refuses to share his real name, that is a problem. The person in question has avoided answering my questions in a series of e mails, to such a degree that once he finally answered my inquiries last night, I no longer believe his responses. Also, it is illegal to make some postings without using your real name. While I can understand the desire to remain anonymous, that option is not available on BT, especially not for people suspected of spamming.

Renting from a business does not preclude an affiliation with that business.

Ron Gould uses his real name, and has over 1600 posts. He has a presence and history on BT that a new poster trying to promote a business does not.

No offense taken at the question sir, I hope this answers your query.

Seb

I do not work for Telerin. I am not related to anyone that does.

After what was revealed Mod Seb and Freddie, you have all rights to be suspicious.

However, I don't subscribe to all the BT threads. My thread stated Christian D. I didn't try the posted website either because it's of no interest to me.

What I saw on the surface was a second time poster questioned. I trust and respect Ron so I don't see a need to justify what he said. I merely asked Why we suspect. On what I saw from my vantage (or in the this case disadvantage) point, I saw no justification...after both of you stated what you stated, I agree wholeheartedly.

Lurkers see us constantly recommend dive centers, equipment, dive guides, etc. and we never use the statement that we don't have any affiliation with such and such. So, when they come on why do they have to qualify themselves is all I was asking.

April - You didn't need to answer, but thank you for that consideration. :-)

Ron. Are you the same Ron from MO that Donna and I used to dive with at Caribe Inn in the mid '90s?
