Hi,
we want to rent a boat to do a cruise around Bonaire for some days (and rent some tanks for diving...), if possible on our own - any idea, who and where? Thanks - Sabine

Sabine,

Welcome to the Board! Try Jan Block (I think that is how it is spelled). He rents boats. Also, you might want to check if you can use the moorings at dive sites. I think they are used for dive boats only. Best of luck! Liz

Sabine I do not think you can dive with dive operators tanks from a rented boat. You would probably need to own your own tanks, and there may still be Park rules restricting that behavior. So do check before you rent your boat.
On the bright side, you can rent a truck and dive many, many sites from shore.

Hi - I couldn't find Jan Block in the net, you have an idea how else?
I read how easy it is by car- it's just that we are passionate to live on a boat while diving...
But probably you are right with the moorings, I have to check.
Thanx for the tips! Sabine

Sabine,

I was spelling it wrong. It is Jan Blonk. His email is janblonk@bonairenet.com

Also, you might want to consider taking a package that incorporates boat and shore diving. They all do it!

Liz

Seb is correct. It is a bit convoluted but if you rent a boat, you are not allowed to dive from it. If you own it, however, there is no problem. You may want to checkt www.stinapa.org to see if they can shed any light on the question.

Thanks Liz, thanks Michael,

I shall check Jan Blonk and ask stinapa - it's our big dream to live on a boat and dive, but it seems to be difficult around Bonaire...
Warm regards - Sabine
