what is the current condition of Pink Beach? I know Cargil was working to restore its usefullness. can someone give us an accurate update. when we were there in december it was iron beach and nearly impossible to use as a barefoot beach. in march a little sand had returned, but not much and it was still not much of a beach. has nature worked her magic yet? we are returning in mid october and hope to once again enjoy a pink beach. also, this has nothing to do with pink beach but has the sandwich factory reopened? i certainly hope so.. as laura once said .. "what did we do before they came to Bonaire?" finally, one last question, which also has nothing to do with pink beach, can someone post the e-mail addrress for Eddison Ellis, owner of Samara car rental? Thanks.

Pink Beach is getting a lot better. we were there in August and water entry is easier. Water is very clear and beautiful. There is still coral on the sand but not as much. Sandwich factory has not reopened. I guess our punch card is not worth much anymore. We have been forced to go to Subway which isn't too bad.We heard a French deli is coming where Sandwich factory was. We missed their breakfast

Hi in Bonaire
If I recall correctly,Renee from the Woodwind told me a few years ago that Pink Beach was a man made site. That is, made with sand brought from elswhere. Can one of you islanders comment on that.
If it is,the time it would take to rebuild itself is probably very long I would think.
Personally I never went to Bonaire for beaches anyway. And I`ve always walked in with bootes on and put my fins on afterward.I guess a nice beach is good for families though.
See you all in November Mickey

Funny you should ask...my wife and I were diving there last Tuesday (12th September). The beach seemed OK - certainly one of the better ones on Bonaire (!) with some sandy areas leading into the water. We did not have any access problems (there was a fairly brisk current, but that's another story). Donning fins in the water is certainly a good idea - even without boots on I don't think the coral on the beach is sharp enough to do any damage. The site is well worth the effort and far from the madding crowds.
