Is there a Sustainable Seafood Guide that is applicable to Bonaire. When dining out what fish should we not eat and what fish is in abundance? I hate to eat my little reef buddy but am a fish eater! I see so few grouper that I am guessing that is one.

Thanks for this post. Great idea for it to be posted and maybe stickied at the top of the dinning page.

I'm not a big fan of broiled firm fleshed fish but a couple of years ago had a bite of my husbands piece of grouper on St. Croix. Loved it and very sorry to see that it's on the endangered list.
Neither of us will be ordering it again.

Elizabeth..generally the pelagic fish are fine to eat. e.g. wahoo, barracuda, dorado ( aka dolphin, mahi-mahi), Marlin, Tuna. Blue runner and snapper are found on the reef but should also be fine.
Remember; NO GROUPER.

Here is one I found and use. You can download a pocket guide - see the center of the page.

Don't feel bad about eating the [legal] fishies. They eat each other all the time!

If you're in the ocean, you're doing one of two things. Eating someone else or getting eaten. It's just the way it works.

I use the Monterey Bay guide at home. Just wondering if there is anything more Bonaire specific.

Please avoid Marlin as well. I know it is served smoked at a certain un-named restaurant and I doubt their marlin is coming from Hawaii.

http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/SeafoodWatch/web/sfw_factsheet.aspx?gid=62

Consumer Note:
When purchasing blue marlin, be sure that it was caught in the Hawaiian fishery.

Tuna is a very mixed bag too that i would definitely NOT put in the safe to eat category.

Elisabeth - we have the same seafoodwatch guides downloadable from that website, they are updated yearly- sometimes you will find the paper pocket guides near the coupons and flyers of local grocery stores, or on your fish mongers till.

Is that an isosceles triangle, right triangle, or equilateral triangle you are talking about above. Please be specific, as geometry, in my opinion, is the eloquence of mathematics.

Just when the bar of good taste has been lowered as far as it could conceivably go, someone (and it always seems that it's someone I know) liquifies and oozes under.
