Hello,

My wife and I and another couple will be coming to Bonaire for our first time in the next few weeks. My wife has a gluten allergy and I was wondering if any of you know of any restaurants on Bonaire that have gluten free food on their dinner menu? Thanks.

I'm curious how Timmy fared at your big group fancy dinner. He also mentioned eating at Capreccios, and I find italian restaurants to have the worse choices for me.

Up to 3 months ago I used to work at La Guernica and we got this question often. So we made a list of which items on the menu are glutenfree. It is still there. If there is any restaurant that you would like to go to; just go there a day in advance and ask them to make a list for you.
Enjoy your stay!

Good Morning Gord -

I'm not completely gluten intolerant but do have an allergy to wheat and soy. If you need 100 % gluten free meals Barbel's suggestion of contacting the Rest. early is a good one.

I don't know of any Restaurants on Bonaire that a have gluten free menu but I just try and order smart - things like grilled meats, broiled fish, potatoes, rice, vegetables & fruit...

I avoid anything breaded, pasta, breads, salad dressings and usually I have no problems.

Gail - I had mixed seafood ( Wahoo shrimp squid mussels )with a wine sauce at Capreccios. Very good.

I also bring down a couple of boxes of gluten free cookies.

Go to: http://www.celiactravel.com/restaurant-cards.html and get one of the cards in Dutch. Someone needs to translate the card into Papiamentu.

I have traveled with several people who have used them in Germany and the servers would take the card into the kitchen. Often the chef would come out and make suggestions, using the teenagers who all speak better English than I do German.

One item the card doesn't address is cross-contamination.
