Hi Everyone -

I have been coming to Bonaire for the last 7 years. Last year my group noticed a restaurant that looked like it was about to open up right near downtown. It was in an old boat (one that sat there for ages!) Does anyone know if this restaurant is now open, what it's called, and what the food is like?

it's called la barka. there is a thread about it farther down. we'll be on bonaire in about a week and will check it out then

Antony, I don't know this for a fact, but I would surmise that the new owners of La Barca did indeed purchase it (or are renting it). They have made signifant improvements to the Angel, and I doubt they would be selling it a month after opening. Perhaps the Bonaire Sunshines Homes listing just hasn't yet been updated?

as someone posted a few months ago regarding businesses on bonaire...almost all are for sale for the right price but that doesn't mean anything is imminent.

Looking at the listing, you are probably right. It was offered for sale or rent. If they are renting it, then as Pat says, a sale is only a good offer away.

I'm surprised that Ruth hasn't bought it so she could burn it to the ground.

My father and some friends are already down there and they were anxious to hear what info I received about this place. One more week and I'll be joining them - can't wait!
