We are thinking about heading back to Bonaire this spring but we have one issue. We really hated the long wait at restaurants to get dinner. This trip we would like to pick up some food to put in our room fridge to reheat for meals between dives. Are there any places that have good "to go" food that will keep for a few days?

Pasa Bon, Bobbejans & China Nobo all come to mind.

Eat your warm lunch at Mickey snack.
Good food, low priced, quick service.

We've been wanting to try Bobby Jans but where is it located and what are the hours? We're staying at the Divi. Thanks!

It's located on the main road heading North from downtown, about 1/2 mile N from where Papaya Moon used to be but way before you get to Pasa Bon Pizza.
It's right where the construction detour is (or was, 11/09) where you have to veer right (inland) while heading North.
So are you all clear on this now?

And it's only open like Friday thru Sunday, but find it tomorrow and check, to be sure.

I guess I wasn't clear what I am looking for....
we want a place we can drive to around lunchtime, pick up food and take it back to room and shove it in the fridge to eat later on that same night so we don't have to sit at a restaurant. (we like to night dive most nights)

I know there is a Subway and KFC, right? Anything else of a similar style? Looking for places with a specific "to go" menu.

thanks!

Robint, Let me make this CLEAR! All of the restauants that BTer's have mentioned have carry out food. If you have a cell phone, call ahead and order food, if you don't then stand in line like everybody else. The food is good, but the best part of the experience is the waiting around and talking to other people. Each their own...

I just had take out at Antriol Catering at Kaya Mariana. It is open 11AM till 8PM but one is better off going earlier than later because they run out of some of the options.

Thanks Tom! We'll definitely try Bobby Jan's this trip.

Robin, we also sometimes don't feel like going out to dinner after a night dive so we usually just make pizza or sandwiches in the room. Yet, we still love going out to all the different restaurants, they've all been great and we've never had to wait. The only one that comes to mind is Mona Lisa. We've learned to make reservations early:-) Maybe we've just been lucky with the other restaurants.:-)

If you still want to eat quick and easy without subjecting yourself to KFC(which often isn't quick anyway). Lunch time or evening, Buenos Aires (opposite Karel's bar) and City Cafe are both usually quick service (except maybe Friday and Saturday nights) and good value for money. They will also do take aways, so eat lunch and take dinner home.

There are many snack bars (mainly Chinese) all over the island. On Kaya Karona there are four or five to my recollection.

Try the Peking or Habour City Takeaway. Both will prepare a huge take away meal for around $5.00 and there will be enough for two meals.

Alternatively, you could do the civilised thing and have a relaxing dinner while chatting about the days diving.

Antony - we are very civilized people but we do like to night dive several nights per week. We can sit around and chat after diving in the evening back at our room! When we are on vacation we want to dive as much as our hearts desire.

Gotta second the Buenos Aires recommendation. Amazing rotisserie chicken! And wonderful fresh juices.

Also, Karel's makes a mean burger, and is a laid back spot to enjoy the evening ambiance, except perhaps on a Saturday night.
