Bringing my son who is diagnosed with celiac disease. I know that Europe is far more progressive that the US for folks with gluten allergy. Are their restaurants that are familiar with gluten free cooking?

Marc - I am also gluten-intolerant (not full blown celiac, however) and find eating in Bonaire quite easy. Stick with fresh fruits & vegetable and grilled entrees and you should be fine. I have never found gluten-free bread or pasta on the island, but I have learned to live with out it anyways (it's a treat to get gluten-free bread in restaurants in NL!). Try the fried plantains and casaba in the local restaurants, both are gluten-free and not dipped in breading. (I am not so sensitive that I get a reaction if deep fryers also fry gluten-containing breading - I know some people are).
