welcome to bonaire talk. when you arrive on bonaire, pick up a copy of Bonaire Update at the rental car counter or at your hotel. it will list all the happy hours and what they offer. we have been to city cafe for the 2 for 1. i think karel's offers appetizers and cheap drinks. cactus blue has a good one too.

Two words: City Cafe !

I went with Cynde Lee a few years ago and they just kept bringing more and more beer... BEER WAS ON SALE !!! lol !!! But it was so fun and we were soooo happy when we left.....

Fabulous spot to watch the sunset, also.

Pat, alas, that would not surprise me. When Cynde sees this thread, maybe she'll post the picture of me being very happy. It's on my computer at work or I would post it.

LOL Pat...you are soooo right! I don't have that pic anymore on my work puter:-( But, Kelly, I think it's in the trip report:-)

Great Escape also has happy hour (it's South in Belnam). Nice quiet atmosphere under a palapa. It's from 5-7 daily:-) I'm hoping Kevin stocks Hefeweisen:-)

I can second Grasshopper's comments on the Great Escape. We stay at the Belmar - the Great Escape is right across the street.

Hey Jim & Roberta,

I will give you a third "bottoms up" on The Great Escape Happy Hour.

BTW Kevin also serves up a good black bean soup.

I'm trying to remember to take his luvly wife a suduko book. I have bought several but it seems after I put it in my BBB (Bonaire Bound Box) it jumps out and I end up finishing the book! lol

Patrick: I accidentally sent the reply to "noreply@bonairetalk.com". You should have it now.

Grasshopper: I think that LaTrappe Witte Trappiste will be pretty close.

All of the LaTrappe beers (Witte Trappiste, Dubbel, Tripel, and Quadrupel) are made in Holland by Trappiste monks. Most people think of them as Belgian beers because the Trappiste order originated in Belgium. Witte Trappiste is a relatively light beer, about 6% alcohol, which is bottled with the yeast still in the bottle. After a year, they will take some, filter it, and use it as the basis for Dubbel. After another year, they will take some Dubbel, filter it, and use it as the basis of Tripel. You can guess where Quadrupel comes from, I bet. Witte Trappiste is about the color of Budweiser, Dubel is dark brown, Tripel is orange, and Quadrupel is medium brown.
