Hi all,
Third trip coming up in Nov. Used to go to Green Parrot quite often when we were in Bonaire.
In fact, we were coming back from Klein past the
Green parrot and saw the place blown up by the huge waves. What a mess! Anyways, they used to
have a great Philly Steak. Anybody on Bonaire make
a good Philly?

Jim

Come on Jim......a "good" Philly steak on Bonaire or anywhere in the Caribbean is NOT so.

I'm a born Philly girl living in burbs. The only place for "good" authentic Philly steaks and I'm only going to name a few, Pat's, Steve's, Gino's.

Now, if you could franchise one of these onto the island, (call it "Jim H's Steaks" ;)) then maybe, just maybe I would comment on a place for a "good" Philly steak.

I'll do some searching for you, and let you know, we have a week to go before we are there; and I'm always looking for good eats.

Hi Ann

Will have to try Kontiki's cheese steak. My taste buds are just a tad bit discriminating when it comes to South Philly food. lol

I'm not much for fish soup, but some good sopi galina is always good to warm the body after diving not to mention good for the soul.

Can you recommend a good spot?

Hello Lorraine,

I have never seen chicken soup on any menu in Bonaire, but Giby usually has soup on his lunch menu. Also there is a secret spot on Kaya Jean B.F. Vitte (snack shop) that has local eats. Antriol catering sometimes has sopi...anyone else? Mine is simmering..it has okra, carrots, fish heads and potatoes. Yummy..

Thanks Ann

Enjoy your soup.

I have to comment that fish are my friends and if I were to see their heads in my soup, it would make me cry. sniff, sniff...

Why in the world would you want a Philly cheese steak in Bonaire??????? You are asking for disappointment, and with all the great eats on the island, why waste your time. If you are not into fish, there is great meat (try Casa Blanca or the Ribs Factory). That's like being from NY and expecting great pizza on the island.

Even though I have never been to Philadelphia it's obvious that a sandwich named after the place is at it's best in it's original surroundings. However if you really can't go without....the Cheese Steak sandwich at Rum Runners for which they use "the original philly sandwich slices" is very good.
