We are visiting Bonaire in December and United Airlines just informed us that since they use Air ALM ,and since Air ALM isn't flying from Bonaire between 12/31 and 12/5 that we can't get home from Bonaire. This is as you can imagine very upsetting to us. What I am hoping for is any information on a boat or ferry that could get us between Curacao and Bonaire. We are booked round-trip to Curacoa just not into Bonaire. If such a service exists we sould be eternally greatful for any info on it. Thank you!!!- Rachel

United says they are helping us by getting us home 5 days late. Which would be wonderful but we are already staying for 12 days and we have to work sometime. We can still fly in and out of Curacao on time. Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to you.

Rachel, I understand that there will be a ferry service between BON/CUR sometime in the not too distant future.. I'm sure there's someone on this board that can fill you in.. Further, take a close look at your contract, perhaps United can assist you with an alternative!! Good luck, S

Take American Eagle from Bonaire to Aruba and then American Airlines onto either Miami, Boston or JFK. ALM has to give you a refund, and that is the IATA law, since they are the ones that canceled the flight.

If ALM has any money!!! They have already defaulted on a lot of bills. Good news department!!! :)

After another 45 minute conversation with United they informed me that Air ALM has sold their Curacao to Bonaire leg to Carribean Air. Apparently United is in negociations with another airline to cover their flights to Bonaire (sounded like it would be American)maybe that will make life better. Now all we need is a way back to Curacao, but thanks to all of your help at least now we have options. Thank you!!!

Here is a news clip on the charter flights between islands. I've heard that the prices are less than what ALM was charging for a roundtrip.

"Chogogo" is a good name for an airplane! Does that mean she will fly? :-) The ferry should be called "Barracuda" or "Dolphin", or something like that!

In any case, it is better than ALM which named their airplanes after trees. I never could figure that one out.
