Wow, this will be a great group of people! Herman, Carolyn, Pat, we look forward to meeting all of you. We are thinking of going with Buddy's for our shore diving package, so maybe we can do some shore diving there together. Also, we are getting a dinner together probably the Tuesday night (8th) at Gibi's at 7 pm... keep ya posted...

69 1/2 by now for sure DD (donkey diva)...nearly busted a gut on that other thread...i am going to start logging everyone on the spreadsheet this afternoon!

We will be there July 25 - Aug 1. There will be 4 of us for most of the time with other joining later in the week. Leigh Ann...Sure wish you guys were going too. We had a great time last year. Cynde..We are coming with the Hall's I think you almost went diving with them in San Diego.

Leigh Ann dear, you know me too well- hehehe. Yes we are staying at Buddies. Buddy and Charlotte are coming again this year and we have added another couple. I was thinking of emailing you to see if you guys were coming this year. Let me know if you guys are going to make it to the NC coast this year, maybe I can put you up for a few days.


Looks like we are going to miss everyone except Pat. Kelly, if we were there on the 8th we would def meet at Gibi's. If any one else is there during the 19-26 we are all up for a meet and eat at Gibi's.

sorry kelly...i've worked for a fire department for over 28 years and will retire in a few HOURS....then get a family wedding taken care of next month, then off to bonaire a month after that...PBE setting in...about 66 days.

Congratulations, Pat, on your retirement! Where are you in Ohio? I am about 30 miles east of Columbus. Do you do any local diving?

Shelly, yes, we ALMOST did get to dive with Hall's when they were in San Diego, Michael still hadn't found work at that time, and things were REALLY tight! However, after reading Cris' trip report, I'm a bit glad we missed it. What a day they had! Are you staying at the sand$ too?

Yes...We have rented the Zale's condo. It sounds like a great place to stay. Now if I can just get someone to show us where the frogfish are.

Shelly, their condo is very nice and comfortable! I understand they upgraded some of the appliances recently, and you will have everything you need to cook all or most meals there (that's what we did). The porch is nice because it is screened in, so you don't get a lot of the bugs, plus you have a great view of the Caribbean! I'm sorry we will miss you!

ok, so herman, pat, carolyn, shelly, harleyanna and i are the only ones that are visiting the island in july? boy we are going to have the run of the place!

I think we should add Ann Phelan, although she hasn't posted here, she will be on the island as well.

Yep - we're off island July 23 through August 2nd - undisclosed destination - for a spa vacation sans kids :-) (They will be here on Bonaire with their big sister (our "adopted" Antillean daughter, coming over from Curacao)while we're away).

How many do you have for July 10-17? And are you going to e-mail the list out? It seem's like we are going to miss everyone by 1 or 2 days. It's our first time there also.

david/lynn, i won't email the list, just come here and print it before you go. i will try to keep it as updated as possible! we can certainly have another get together after the 8th, or just meet for a cold one at cap' don's while you and others are there! just give anyone on the list a call once you are on the island and find out what plans have been made if none have been narrowed down here! you are going to love it, and have a great time!

41 of us from the Cincinnati area. We will be staying at Cap't Don's July 5-19. However some will only be there for one week.

Is there enough room July 8 at Giby's for Ken's group alone?? LOL...Maybe it can be a BT Block party at Giby's, Nadia's and China Nobo..

Gibi could cater a larger shindig :-) (or you could stage a BBQ at the place you're staying on the 8th, Cynde! (yes it would be okay ;-) ).

You just need a sail with wheels to keep your mind on land things!!!!!!

In case y'all haven't figured it out, Cynde and Kelly are house sitting for Linda and myself, so the BBQ would be in our place while we're in Curacao for the week with the kids :-)

That means those wanting to dive or snorkel Small Wall and the ReefCam would have the perfect opportunity to do so prior to the BBQ, assuming that's okay with Cynde and Kelly!

Giby's is a little local place in Nikiboko (neighborhood) that serves super fish, fungi (like polenta), sate and really nice hospitality. Also, it's the host of the famous Tue. night BT dinners. You pay Dutch treat and enjoy the group.

July 8 might be a tad too big so Cynde and Kelly might host a bbq at The Richters. I for one think this is a super idea since I feel over 60 at Giby's is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much.

I will go whereever...drink at Giby's or pot luck BBQ at The Richters...

WOW! How nice of Linda and Jake to host a BBQ when they are off island! Our group of 11 is thrilled to participate! Just let us know what time and what to bring! We may want to take up the offer of diving the small wall and the reef cam!

well jake and linda, the cat's out of the bag we did good keeping our mouths shut for over a month didn't we! LOL! annie, kelly and i are looking forward to babysitting the critters and having a relaxing 9 days

as for the bbq, kelly and i will put our heads together and get the details together and then post. most likely it will be BYOE (we can provide the condiments and flatware...cultimara has paper plates and such don't they?)

If you need anything from the states for the BBQ let me know and I will bring it. Anything that will fit in a suitcase, that is!

Wow. Bonaire Talkers has certainly blossomed since I last logged on over three years ago. I'm coming back for the first time in 3.5 years. I'll be there June 16-July 22. (Yes, five weeks!!!) I'll be at aqua viva apts. diving at former sand dollar (bonaire dive and adventure?)
I'm an avid fish watcher (invertebrates too) with about 200 dives logged. I dive a lot in the 46-55 F water of Monterey Bay (yes, left coast too).

I'd love to hook up with people for southern shore dives.

14 days and counting!

I hope this is open to everyone because it sounds like a blast. Only problem, Mike and I (Loyce) and friends will be in Bonaire from July 18th to July 25th and seems all the activity is prior to those dates. We rented a house on the beach in Punt Vierkant. Our first trip to Bonaire. Supposed to be great diving just off the private beach. Would love to hear from anyone going on those dates and maybe get together.

Ooh Ooh Loyce, what did ya rent?

We rented a 3 bdrm/2 bath house from Sun Rentals. It is called Casa Cia and is located in Belnam. It is represented to be on the water with great diving and snorkeling accessible from the back of the house. We did not book it until May and it seemed everything else we inquired about was already rented.
Hopefully, it is not a "dog" and even if it is, maybe the diving will make up for it.
It is located on something called EEG blvd.
We have dove Aruba and loved it, but wanted more shore diving.

Washer, solar dryer ( washlines)

Out door shower is awesome, you might have to clear out the drain. We got a tub at Kooeyman for about 12 dollars to rinse the gear in.
Troupial, prichikis, bananaquits, all birds flying through.
Lots of time on the veranda.

Checked it out last April, newer beds, much better.
There WILL BE airplane noise, it can get bad.


We stopped bothering to park inside the gate most of the time unless we were gearing up to go out or dropping off tanks.

Thank you so much for the great info. It was very kind of you to reply to the questions. We are so excited about going on our first trip to Bonaire. We will spend 10 days in Curacao at the Aquarium Resort before heading off to Bonaire.
