I was by today doing my little volunteer work (I work in the barrios spreading the word about sterlization) and saw the new gift shop. Wow, in 4 short weeks the place is amazing. It's a true boutique. Spread the word to locals about the Animal Shelter Gift Shop.

:-)

Thanks, Ann --- looking forward to seeing it on my next trip, when I stop by to pet the kitties...

BTW anyone there --- is there anything you need to be brought down for the shelter or the gift shop? I'll be there on January 24, and can always make a little room for my little friends!
Josie

Ann, Thank you for the great compliment. I was going to do a post with pictures next week regarding our recent remodeling of the gift shop and office accomplished by Marlies and Annemiek. It really is lovely. I will take photos this week and post again so all the BT'ers can see how we have maximized the display of all their wonderful donated items. Also want to thank the most recent donees over the last couple of months...don't know all your names as some days I was not there...so in order not to leave anyone out...THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO BROUGHT ALL THE GREAT DOG AND CAT STUFF FOR THE SHELTER AND OUR GIFT SHOP SINCE I LAST POSTED and also to all the BT'ers who brought stuff in the past. We wouldn't have been able to carry off this gift shop idea if it hadn't been for all of you who have been supporting us since its launch. THANK YOU!
Josie, right now the gift shop is in need of Kong toys for dogs (they sell out the minute we get any!), harnesses for medium size dogs (25-40 pounds), rubber chew toys, nylabones or rope chew toys for large dogs. Our residents are fine in the toy department...when they need stuff we just take them from our gift shop stock!!!! However, we do need some maintenance items like flea and tick powder for cats, flea and tick powder for dogs, flea shampoo for cats, flea shampoo for dogs. Also there is something called "Flavor-Doh for Dogs" and "Flavor-Doh for Cats" that is a flavored substance to put pills in. It really works when we need to give worm pills and other medications to our residents. If anyone can find any of these items we would appreciate your help. More next week with pictures of our "remodeled" gift shop!

Jane, appreciate the post, you saved me the trouble of asking what you need. Susan and I will be back in November and have already started buying more rope pulls like we brought in June, will add some of the other stuff to our shopping list. Looking forward to seeing you and the new and improved store, and thanks for all the good you and the volunteers do for Bonaire's critters.

Patrick & Susan

Hi BT'ers...sorry for the delay in posting pix of the newly remodeled gift shop....unfortunately, Tropical Storm Omar got in the way!! All is well and we are back to normal. Did some inventory and we are in need of the following things in addition to the previous post: cat collars (the cat safe kind that expand a little or snap off if kitty gets caught); cat litter "pooper scoopers"...the large size...we've had requests to sell these and also we need a few for our own residents as we use an average of 13 litter boxes each day so they wear out quickly! That's all for now. Except for a big THANK YOU to all of you who have helped make our new venture a huge success! OK, here goes I will try to post the photos:
