Three weeks ago (sometime in the week of Aug. 14th I believe) the members of We Dare to Care Foundation had to make the very hard decision to close the Playground Parke Publiko. They could no longer grant access to the all the kids (and families) that go to that playground everyday because they were no longer provided with electricity and water supply. I'm not sure of the extent of the problems, and actually I should not be the one writing this, but if we all thought 'It's not my place, it's not my problem' then we would be farther away from home. I will ask some of the members themselves to give us more information, but just wanted to let you know what's going on, and ask you to put on the thinking cap, and see what could be done to help out.
They held a radiothon last friday (9/1) and got very good responses. They opened again the next day Saturday 2nd. But they are not there yet!! (meaning that they're NOT 100% sure they can keep the place open 'forever').
I guess we do need their input to know what we can do. Will ask them to send some info.
Greetings,
J

I see they had a thread going under the topic 'Support Bonaire' ... bumped into that after posting this here. Beautiful and wonderful pictures of the park.
Maybe the moderators can 'move' this thread over there, or is it ok to remain here? The mod's will decide ...
Greetings,
J

Hi J, I had read about it in the Bonaire Reporter. A very bad shame. The BR made it sound like they did not have the funding to keep the park open. It would be a shame to see it close forever and just become a place for vandalism and thugs...If I get time sometime today,

Thanks for bringing the info to BT, I just haven't had time.
