Barry, by now you've probably heard that Cynde and I will be roommates in July in Bonaire... 69 days from now.. anything I should know besides reminding her to bring cash? :-)

barry, please tell kelly that californians really do carry cash, it is just that we can't remember where we put it! LOL! I swear, I really did leave the house with a 20 spot (mind you, I thought that would be all I would need for a good time in So Ca!)

Lets see, "CASH", that would stand for "Cynde Actually Says Here" I,ve got cash right here in my bag... but then again we know better. I have later learned. Cynde is actually under suspicion from the Secret Service for counterfeiting not cash, but the lack thereof... Try that one...

Wow, Barry...you must really be a hurtin' pup. You poor thing. Our thoughts and well wishes are with you and Sherry...hang in there...everything will work out wonderfully for you! You're an old pro at this by now, eh? Lamenectomy? Fusion? Discectomy?? Where? L5-S1? L4-L5? Just think, in a few weeks you will be free from the constant pain...you will wake up from the anesthesia and the radiculopathy will be gone and you will smile a big smile of relief for yourself and for Sherry, too. Good luck to both of you. Carole

thanks everyone for the well wishes- barry appreciates them. although surgery is scarey and painful, barry has been in so much pain that he is welcoming it. at least the doctor figures he can repair him. there is always a chance that it wont work or get worse but i pray that wont happen. the same surgeon did the last surgery and he did a great job then.

he will have 6 weeks after surgery of recovery. at least we dont have a trip to bonaire planned during that time.. he should be fine by nov. when we plan on going.

carol, i am sure he will reply today about details of which exactly what spot is in trouble. it may be only a spot but the poor man's whole body seems in pain.

his daughter SEASQUIRT, will be here this summer and we so enjoy getting out camping. he will be able to enjoy the camping, fishing, and relaxing- just wont be able to ride his horse or help set up camp until he heals. colorado is a beautiful place to have a recovery, especially in the summertime. sarah and i can set up camp, he can supervise. lol!!!!

Carole, this will be the third on L4-L5, also have had one on L5-S1. The MRI did show 90% probable disk material pushing on the nerve. There is about a 10% chance that it is scar tissue from previous surgeries that they won't be able to do much about.

The doctor and I believe it to be more likely disk material because the pain came on so quickly after 5 1/2 years of pain free time after the last surgery. The Radiologist did not seem to think that it was scar tissue but the surgeon will talk to him on a face to face conference to make sure they are both looking at the same thing.

I sure do appreciate everyone’s concern and will be sure to keep you guys up to speed on what’s going on.

Good luck, Barry. You will be in our hearts and prayers. Good idea for the doc and the tech to compare notes and combine heads. Have to be very careful and better to be safe than sorry. Good luck. Carole

I do thank you for that sentiment. I am a little worried because as the surgeon says, the more work you do to a particular area, the more chances you take of damaging something.

Barry, I hope there isn't scar tissue built up. I know how concerned you must be about the repeated surgeries to the same area. I do feel for you, as I know it just must be so painful...hang in there until the 12th:-)

Well everyone, my recuperation is going very well and I will probably be going back to work on the Monday after next. Although the weekend before last I fell on my butt and at first was concerned for my back "but" it seems to be ok "but my butt" really hurts. Now I am used to being the "butt" of many jokes "but" I think that the physical pain hurts a lot more than the mental pain.

Also I went to an orthopedic surgeon yesterday for a shoulder injury that I received a few weeks before back surgery and am scheduled for an MRI for a possible rotator cuff tear. Yippee!!! Though unlike the back surgery if this does require repairing I will likely put it off until after Bonaire in November.

Thanks everyone
Aquaman

Hang in there, Barry! You have a cute butt, too! Sherry, you lucky girl!!! Glad to hear your back is healing nicely. Joe had a small RCT and had it surgically repaired (arthroscopic, same-day procedure) and is doing well. He was out of work for a while after that one tho.

Be careful, Barry! Carole

Barry, glad the back is healing...and good luck with the arm. keep us posted...you know, i told you that doing that tom cruise imitation in your underwear wasn't a good idea...those floors get slippery in your socks!

seriously, we are all pulling for you...and if you need a portable port a potty for your camping trips, i have the inside track on how to get one...however, it may take a little "cash.":-)
