Good morning Jenni.

It's...

Carob Bean Day

Rumor has it that chocolate can restore the soul - or at least make you feel good. But, what about carob? Is it the "health food" chocolate of the world? When it comes to calories, sugar content and nutrition, there is very little difference. But, carob tastes sweeter than chocolate before they are processed. When you use carob in a recipe instead of chocolate, you can add less sugar. anything

CAROB NUT SQUARES

INGREDIENTS

1 cup chopped nuts
1 Tablespoon carob powder
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Tablespoon honey

DIRECTIONS

1. Put the nuts, carob powder and vanilla in a blender or food processor. Blend into a powder.

2. Add the honey and blend to make a stiff paste. OR dump the powder into a bowl and blend in the honey by hand.

3. Press the mixture into a small pan or onto a plate - about 1/2" thick. Chill in the refrigerator to harden. Cut into squares

ENJOY!

Have you had carob? I have. Many years ago. Sometimes it was good, and sometimes not. And it does NOT hit the spot like chocolate does!!!

Scuba Doo. The follow up story. Annie B.

Scuba-Doo’s fooled you anything

READERS raved about the world’s first deep sea diving dog in yesterday’s Sun — dubbed Scuba-Doo — but the April Fool’s joke was on YOU!

Newshounds and TV crews phoned us asking for more details on terrier Hamish.

He was pictured wearing a wet suit and oxygen mask, supposedly diving on a reef.

But there was something a bit fishy about his owner’s name — Alf Lipoor. It is an anagram of April Fool!

The stunt was the brainchild of photographer Paul Watts, 33, who used computer wizardry to show Hamish diving. anything

No Jenni I have never tried it. I don't eat much chocolate, seem to have gone right off it. I used to like eating cakes years ago, anything gone of them also. I like savory things now. Annie B.

Annie, that story you posted of the scuba dog really made me laugh. dog
I wondered if our friends across the pond were accustomed to the newspapers and radio entering into April Fool's Day, like they do here. rofl

I thought it was a brilliant scam, and I sent it to a couple of diving friends of mine.

dog Heart-hugs to my UK buddies. I got completely sucked in by the story of Hamish. I even looked closely at the diving shot and thought the leash looked a little peculiar but I didn't *get it*. What a riot. I ought to know better than to fall for a hoaxed picture.

choco I've never been a fan of carob. I find it a little bitter. It has no caffeine - I think. People who avoid caffeine can still get that choco flavor when they need a sweet nibble.

swan Jenni, I was thinking the same thing. There is a lot of wisdom in the Ugly Duckling story. Most of us start out thinking we're one of a kind and bottom of the barrel and then we grow into ourselves and realize that we're okay. It's just finding your place.

Well, kiddos, it's Hump Day and lunch with Dadz is on the agenda. We're taking a ride up towards UMASS and are going to check out a bison ranch.

If you people would have asked Sadie, Chardy or myself, we could have told you guys that picture of the westie under water was fake. We dogs prefer to breath through our nose. It is also hard to keep the mask cleared with all that hair around our face and our nose outside the mask.
There is a guy who has designed a bell (clear ball that fits over the dog's entire head) so the dog can dive with him.

I think your doggy, Ben, might need therapy at this rate. dogHe seems to be showing a high degree of codependency and relationship dysfunction with regard to Chardonnay, falling in love far too fast, lovefast and not managing to keep his boundaries. I am available 24/7 and in emergency situations. smillaf
