Let's see those boids, buddies! swallow

It is also (good timing on this one) Let's Laugh Day

laugh

Laughter may be the common language of the world, but it's also good medicine. Laughing reduces stress, strengthens your heart, is good for your lungs and improves your immune system - it also makes your face look nice.

laugh

If you are too busy to laugh, you are too busy.

poster In his book Capistrano Nights, Fr. St. John O’Sullivan, Pastor of Mission San Juan Capistrano 1910-33, relates how the swallows first came to call the Mission home. One day, while walking through town, O’Sullivan saw a shopkeeper, broomstick in hand, knocking down the conically-shaped mud swallow nests which were under the eaves of his shop. The birds were darting back and forth through the air squealing over the destruction of their homes.

“What in the world are you doing?” O’Sullivan asked.

“Why, these dirty birds are a nuisance and I am getting rid of them!” the shopkeeper responded.

“But where can they go?”

“I don’t know and I don’t care,” he replied, slashing away with his pole. “But they’ve no business here, destroying my property.”

O’Sullivan then said, “Come on swallows, I’ll give you shelter. Come to the Mission. There’s room enough there for all.”

The very next morning, the padre discovered the swallows busy building their nests outside the newly restored sacristy of Father Serra’s Church.

Well, hey, it could be worse-like in Austin, Texas, where every March, about 1.5 million pregnant bats migrate from Mexico and hang out under the Congress Avenue Bridge.

movie What's your Favorite Funny Movie? What do you watch when you need a break from life's serious concerns?

austin I thought of this because we watched the first two Austin Powers movies a couple nights ago and I laughed myself delirious. I haven't laughed that hard since I gave up drugs. (Kidding!)

little nicky We also cracked up at Little Nicky. (Man, this is embarrassing!) Mr. Beefy, the talking dog, is just too funny for words.

hamper Ace Ventura and Cheech & Chong always manage to provoke gales of laughter, too. If you aren't in the mood to laugh, you will be after Cheech throws his dirty clothes in the toilet and pees in the clothes hamper!

sally When we watched the second Austin Powers - I waited all the way thru the movie for the credits so I could see who Fat B*st*rd was. It NEVER entered my mind that it was Mike Meyers. How often does a movie really fool you?

trek We also like Innerspace and Galaxy Quest. What a Star Trek spoof! Tim Allen as Kirk and Alan Rickman as Spock are priceless! Mystery Men is pretty funny, too. Super cast!

Oh boy, you got me now. I don't watch that kind of comedy unless I really have to. I saw a funny film the other day called Saving Grace, starring Brenda Blethyn. It is about a widow who's husband left her with nothing but debt, and she took to growing pot to earn money. anything

Jenni and Sarah should know the film I mean, you may not have heard of it though.

My very very favorite film is Erin Brockovich with Julia Roberts. anything I like the humour.

laugh2 Annie - usually I go more for the smart-alek, dry humor like Best of Show and The Big Chill - but once in a blue moon we go in for a bunch of STOOPID movies and now is a good time. I'm already having war nightmares like I had when I was a kid in the 60s. So the sillier the better just before bedtime.

laugh We also ROFLed over Zoolander. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are two of the dumbest supermodels on the planet.
