talk Kind of quiet on the chat threads lately. I've been negligent. Coincidence? I think not. LOL

book I guess you can always tell when my latest book order has arrived from the Sci-Fi & Fantasy Book Club. Got a fun one from Lincoln Childs called Utopia. A hi-hi-tech theme park full of guests goes mad - and nobody can leave. Also got an alternative history by Steve Stirling - Conquistador. It's 1946 and the white man has discovered America for the first time. Let's do the Time Warp again! And a standard parallel world fantasy with little people called the Little Country by Charles de Lint. Good stuff!

nyah MSNBC: Talks end Broadway strike. Hey Seb, vacation's OVER!

It's Johnny Appleseed Day apple

Yes, there really was a Johnny Appleseed. His real name was John Chapman - born in Massachusetts in 1774. But he didn't just walk around the country sprinkling apple seeds all over the place. He was a serious nurseryman who set out orchards in the widerness of the MidWest. He then gave or sold trees to the pioneers moving West who depended on apples as a staple in their diets.

TODAY'S TRIVIA:

1302 - Romeo & Juliet's wedding day, according to Shakespeare
1794 - Royal Theatre in London's Dury Lane opens

spfld 1892 - 1st public basketball game (Springfield, Mass) (My hometown - how exciting.)

1935 - Bank of Canada opens
1997 - Beatle McCartney knighted Sir Paul by Queen

Looks like it will be a nice day here in North Texas. o
Rusty I still think you would like Wilbur Smith.... Men of Men is a great read . i

Glad they resolved the problems at the theatre. I met a lady this weekend who had planned a big Spring Break outing to Manhattan with her kids. Was worried their good time would be ruined. y

Hi,

I'm here too. Although had some PC maintenance - defrag, etc. that had the 'puter talking to itself for a couple of hours.

Also, typing away in another place on "the UN. Iraq, peace, war, etc., etc." Less homey conversations than BT!!!

Makes you want to run away and hide on a nice friendly little island.

Off to lunch. Think to make it interesting the cat and I will fight over a can of salmon. He is like a dog where you have to spell w*a*l*k. When he hears the word salmon he is in the kitchen looking like a dope fiend.

Later,

Bill

Tell you how weird my cat Lily is, she fights with Sue over a can of hash. Nasty stuff, I can't even stand being in the room with it, but Sue and Lily like it.

Interesting experience this morning, I walked outside before getting in the car to go to work. I heard a strange sound in the top of the Oak tree, looked up and there at the top was a Piliated Woodpecker (a Woody Woodpecker). Very rare bird, we had a nesting pair about 10 years ago, but not since then. Maybe they're moving back in, the school system has gotten better and the property taxes have decreased.

I squeezed off some shots with the Sony, I'll post them tonight if there not trash.

You, guys are killing me. How do you expect me to get any work done with all these thong pictures.

Lily's a little wide for a thong, would not be a pretty picture. Come to think about this, forget the cat, would not be a pretty picture on me either.

LOL Freddie,

You cwazy! Makes me think that Cheryl and I should organize a NE US coast trip to meet the BT East coasters. Are you and Rusty allowed in the same town at the same time?? However, by that time Canadians won't be allowed into the US. Oops - Spent too much time on my other UN thread today.

Cheers,

Bill

Cecil that is a great shot of OLE Woody WP..
Talking about Biods.. we have had a flock of Robins for the past week.. there must be about 75 of them. They have all but stripped the holly berries in the neighborhood, making quite a mess as well!!! Hope this means Spring is on its' way..

Margarite.. You may very well pick up some kind of great deal through the travel agents from Bonaire.. Also don't forget to enter all the contests for trips, equipment, etc at any and all of the booths!! I know Anthony's Key in Roatan has some kind of contest going as I just got a post card from them about a trip for two..
We love AKR in Roatan, but I must admitt the diving is Much better in Bonaire!! We didn't get to Utila {some day soon though, I want to see the whale sharks!!} but we did go to Caos Cachinas.. thats where King Kong was found.{in the movie it was the opening shot, the foggy island...} IMHO not worth going back to.. VERY ISOLATED!!!{even the poor girl that owned the only resort there, was lonely!!} We find the resort Anthonys Key, very comfortable and safe.. we have only been off the resort grounds once in 4 trips. Have a wonderful night all and see you in the morning..
Oh yeah I get to go to the Sonogram with my daughter in-law tomorrow to see the baby.. Yippee!!!!

Snork and Emi! Hope your winter is over! What a lashing we got! Not usual to have snow on the beach.....We have been busy with the house....ya think we could just pick and choose our choices off a touch screen ....there has to be an easier way! I'm up to my neck in doorknob choices..."who cares" ....round toilet bowl vs. oblong...(more comfortable for the males)
You know I had to pick the round one....Steve doesn't need to spend more "comfy" time in there...Otherwise everything is ok...suns out! Hope we can meet up again in Bonaire...we have plans for July and I think Turks and Caicos in Sept.....Hope you guys got through the winter ok.....We should be moving in in May....open invitation if you guys come up this way
