Good Morning BT Buddies

Today is Potato Chip Day or as us Brits would say Crisp Day.

crisps

American Indian, George Crum, made the first potato chips in 1853 while working as a chef in Saratoga Springs, NY. A hungry diner didn't like the thick French Fries and sent them back to the kitchen - twice! In exasperation, Crum sliced the fries too thin to eat with a fork - and potato chips - or crisps - were born.

After eating a sumptious, but rather large meal last night at the Dinner Dance, I also danced the night away. dance
So I have sore feet and a full belly.

I am up bright and early and just about to leave to go teach the second day of the course I'm running. Do feel sleepy and tired though. Another cup of coffee maybe? amcoff

Oooo - potato chips. Grew up close to the main State Line Potato Chips factory in Wilbraham MA and we drove by every week to visit my grandparents. *Groan* What a wonderful aroma wafting up from the smokestacks. Enough to make your mouth water.

chips

My favorite potato chips - when I get a craving these days - are Cape Cod brand - Sea Salt and Vinegar.

I used to work in a crisp factory during summer holidays when I was a student! There are certain brands of crisps I will never eat and I will never, ever, ever eat beef flavour crisps. The women working on that line used to be moved regularly as the flavouring gave them dermatitis!

Ah, yes, Cape Cod Potato Chips. Have loved them since they were first introduced, although their dark russet are my favorite.

Was that Naples, Florida or Naples, Italy, Rusty? Seems like making it a capital crime was a little extreme. Could have accomplished the same thing by making the couple get married.

What course are you teaching, Jenni? I'm now doing teaching a basic microbiology and chemistry course on Monday mornings at a tiny two-year college near here.

John and what would you like to send to the second pictures?

Good news on the Eagle front, two eggs. The second one was laid sometime between yesterday at 3:00 and this morning.

John,
I don't think Naples, Florida was around in 1562 :-) Though my father (a good siciliano) likes it fine today.

hi honey i'm home! cecil, nice to see the little eggs, please keep us posted! i am exahusted! up at 4:00am, got michael to the airport, then went and woke a friend up in san diego at 7:00! actually she and her husband were already up...hung out, had coffee, and putzeddd until the candle factory opened up, got candles, yapped more:-) i love going down there and visiting my buddies...funny story...my friend and i used to date the same guy right after high school, at the same time, but he kept it from us, although we both suspected...she ended up marrying him (thank goodness) and he turned out to be a real jerk, they divorced, and then she found mr. right, also named "mike"...anyway, 23 years after the "incident" she emails me, to appologize...and we have been best friends ever since! we laugh about all of it now, and have figured out when the "crum" was lying...i went to his house one day and she was there, and he made her hide in the bathtub! (the things you do at 19 years of age) we figured we will surprise him someday and have him on Riki Lake or Jenny Jones:-) now that i have bored you with my story, off to do some cleaningcam.jpg

Potato Chips!

Here in Indianapolis, it's "Mikesells", which are fried in peanut oil (yum!)...in Michigan it's "Better Maid" potato chips.

My favorite, though, are "Grippos" BBQ chips. Oh man, I could eat the whole bag!
