I stll can't get all of a thread with a bunch of gif's. I think maybe our server people put come kind of limit on how many bytes we can pull up on a site.

linnea, yes, isn't the weather great! I went down to the beach at lunch a couple of weeks ago and took a bunch of pics. I am thinking of putting together a left coast bbq in april, what do you think?

Hello fellow left-coasters. Looks quite pretty outside here in the upper left corner, but the frost was evident this morning. Brrr. The crocus are in bloom. The daffodils have emerged, but I haven't seen many buds open yet. A rhododendron in my neighborhood is in bloom, rather ahead of the others, I'm sure. We have all four seasons up here, but winter is rather brief in the Willamette Valley.

niki, did you hear from kerri? all the flower talk reminds me of her:-) I am checking on airfairs daily, and i am hoping that we will be in bon from june 3rd to the 14th. May even take 2 weeks if michael can work it out. wouldn't that be fabulous! (i have a hard time opening the threads from home, so i usually don't even try!)

Cynde, I didn't get a reply from Kerri. The mail didn't bounce, but I don't know if she's seen it yet. Makes us worry a little, doesn't it?

I actually stitched that together from two digital pictures taken from the same spot as I rotated a bit. If I had had Jake's 360 gizmo you would have seen Hwy 101, the same road you have down there, eh?

Linnea and Nikki, and anyone else having problems with the .gif upload.. Perhaps this would be an idea.. Start a thread with "Please No Gifs" I'm sure we, the gifers.. will honor your request, just as Jake honored our request for a place that we could do our gifing..

Cynde, my sister and I are flying Continental from SNA to SJU via EWR on May 28, staying in San Juan until May 31, then flying American Eagle to BON. We will stay on BON until June 14, then AE to SJU until June 16 and then home to SNA via EWR.

Yes we are... No plans so far but you never can tell... Buddy is nice, never been to Bari reef (I think ) you forget one other good reason: It's on walking distance of our favorite internet hangout...

Freddie, that is a good idea. Since you have kindly suggested it, it sounds fine to me. I can sometimes chat as aimlessly and amiably as the next Bonaire addict, and without gifs I will be able to load threads.

Since this is a left coast (U.S.) thread, anyone want to plan a BT get-together in the San Diego area the week of Christmas 2004 (yes 23 months from now). We'll be going there to spend Christmas with my brother then (gotta plan ahead!).

Nice, Jake! Wish we were likely to go south, but I'd be surprised.

Linnear. What happens when you try to get onto a thread with gifs on it. Does your computer freeze? Annie B.

jake, i will designate myself! we are about an hour north of sd, but as i grew up there, a bbq at mission bay would be fantastic! How's that for a start?
|
By Cynde Lee (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #5463) on Thursday, February 6, 2003 - 6:59 pm: |
oh, jake, what dates are you going to be there?

By Linnea Wijkhof-Wimberly (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #400) on Thursday, February 6, 2003 - 7:07 pm: |
Cyndy, a BBQ in April sounds great, and getting together at Mission Bay at Xmas time sounds great, Mother Nature permitting. If the weather doesn't permit, maybe we can take over one of the SD Rubio's Baja Grills for an afternoon (unofficially, of course).

Don't know for sure yet other than we definitely need to be there for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day... Need to be back on Bonaire for New Year's Eve though, which is a Friday. Hmmm. I guess I'll commit now to flying into SD on December 16th (Thursday) and departing on the 28th (a Tuesday - want to catch AJ on Tuesday night to MoBay if they are still flying on that day. My brother's going to be living somewhere west and north of PB by a little (he lives in PB now with his wife, but are buying a house elsewhere - don't recall which town).

Jake, I hope your brother doesn't move too much to the west or he will be out on the Coronados with the seagulls and pelicans.

Cynde, if you and Michael plan on doing the Continental SNA/EWR/SJU, you will have to stay in SJU for one night. The Cont. flight arrives in SJU at 10:40pm as currently scheduled and the AE flight to BON leaves at 5:40pm. The return flights give you about 2 hours in SJU on the way back, if your AE flight is anywhere near on time. It costs more than the AJ red-eye flight, but I decided it was worth it. The ~$900 is per person, plus the overnight hotel and at least two meals, Michael is going to have to decide which is going to hurt more, his poor ol' red-eyes or your wallets.

Hi gang! Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted. The PBD got me down for a while. Then spent a few weeks in India for business and had a little time for pleasure. Lot’s too catch up on. Looks like we might get snowed in tomorrow should be a good day to catch up on all I’ve missed.

Just put NO GIFS into the TITLE of the thread and I'll do my best not to forget and slow ya down! It'll be like having a fast lane. LOL

Oh - I wanted to mention, too, that if a thread won't load because of the images just shut off the images temporarily in your preferences and you can load the thread much faster. I have to do it occasionally at heavily loaded pages, too. Darn dial-ups!
|
By Cynde Lee (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #5467) on Friday, February 7, 2003 - 11:00 am: |
good idea rusty, i didn't know you could shut the images off in a thread, do you set it on your internet options area? never done that before...
|
By Niki Harris (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #659) on Friday, February 7, 2003 - 3:47 pm: |
Rusty, good idea. It's too bad that IE doesn't offer us the chance to suppress GIFs and allow JPEGs. I do want to see the webcams and other original pictures. Those are really the whole focus of the site, for me. Sometimes good webcam captures are posted somewhere in CC but not in BWebCams threads, although I know some are diligently posted in both places. I have adjusted to the idea that even if frequent viewers and posters capture a neat picture it may be buried in CC and I'll never know about it. Or the questions and answers about it may only go there. Ah, well... That's the way the cookie crumbles... :-)
