sky sunshine

It's French Fries Day ff

Are French Fries French?

French fries were probably invented in Belgium, but nobody knows for sure. The word "french" refers to the way that are made. Any food cut up into strips is called "frenched", so potatoes cut into strips and fried were known as French Fried Potatoes. Maybe McDonald's started calling them French Fries!

palm Hi Margarita! Hi Freddie! When does lucky Mark hit Fantasy Island?

hump

Today is the day - I head out into the winter wonderland that is Western Massachusetts and brave the light snow and cold for a lunch date with Dadz. I have second thoughts. I *rilly, rilly* hate going outside in the winter but I look forward to lunch and I need to get some fresh produce.

snow Freddie - you are so right! I can smell it in the air here, too. The forehead and sheekbone sinuses hint at it also. We had flurries coming in a couple days ago and my entire face was scrunched up - aspirin wasn't helping. Then whoosh it was gone. I looked out back and the snow had arrived.

head Sure is some different to have no migraines for two years (January 8th was two years!!) and being able to recognize the signs of a subtle, normal headache!

thanks The specialists at the UMASS Headache Clinic in Worcester got me onto a couple of daily Rx that immediately dropped my monthly migraines from 30+ to ZERO! They're a combination of blood pressure and calcium channel blocker meds - and as long as I take them morning and night I've stayed migraine-free! It's a miracle, truly!

make sure this one is checked..

Right, now that I can do that, how do I do this cookie thingy.cookie
Presume this cookie is not an English biscuit, nor something Blue Peter prepared earlier :-)))

I always put my user name and password in every time change threads, and every time I change topics and boards. sisyphys

So I shall go on a ''reckie'' and see what happens. binoculars

Freddie, it didn't do that until I had to use the start up disk and I dumped all my information 'cause of the freezing problem I was having with my laptop. Now I'm not sure I know where to check preferences in my p-file.....it doesn't ask me about the cookie. Sheesh.

Margarite you probably have to enable you cookie Jar :-) here is where you have to check in your profile..
Preferences

The following section allows you to specify your preferences for the operation of the board. The board needs to know who you are in order to use many of these settings. Consequently, for many of these features to work, you need to enable the cookie option.

Remember my username and password in a cookie

To get to my preferences, Margarite, I clicked on my own name [on a previous message I'd posted] and then went to User Profile right at the bottom of the page, and got a list of preferences. I didn;t remember doing any of that when I joined, but I wouldn;t have understood 'any' of it back then. Thanks to you guys I understand bits and bobs now.

It is easy first I start with a photo

remove background save
redneck2
open another photo
Tomwater
put first photo over it, remove the parts I do not want and presto chango

Had a lot of practise doing this with products which appear on a few web sites.

So far all I have use are MS Image Composer and several Adobe Tools.

The gif files some of the visitors to this site create are a lot harder.

Rusty
the real truth about french fries is simple,
the normal standard cut size is 10*10 mm (at least here). However somebody at the other side of the ocean created a 8*8 mm cut and called it French Fries, I remember it was mr.McD, so it was just a marketing effort to convince the audience to have a better product. I must admit they've succeeded, we even call it now "mini-frites"

They were called French fries way before McD's. Many US service men refered to Belgian fries as French fries when returning from the WWI European theatre because France and Italy were both way more sauve than Belgium. I can remember going to A&W for a frosty mug, teen burger & french fries before any one had heard of McD's.
