Annie ,if you are still there, how far do you have to go for treatment and will you both come home every night?
|
By Annette Bursey on Sunday, January 19, 2003 - 8:57 pm: |
Margarite, Yes we will be coming home every night. I just don't know what time yet though. Depends on how long we are kept waiting. Every Tuesday will be chemo day. That means radiotherapy in the morning, and chemo in the afternoon, which will take all day. Some nights she gotta be kept in for internal radiotherapy. It is all very scary at the moment. Thanks for asking. Annie B.
|
By James & Margarite Hix on Sunday, January 19, 2003 - 9:33 pm: |
Geez.....sounds like an awful lot of therapy all at once....Not loving Tuesdays for a while. Sounds scary to me ,too. Don't know what it is like, but usually, from what I hear, the fear and anxiety one feels when one anticipates the unknown is worst than the actual thing. Doesn't make much sense maybe but this whole damn thing doesn't make sense. All I know for sure is that miracles happen every day, I've been witness to a couple. And this too shall pass. Better days do lie ahead for you and Emma. .....and you are certainly Loved.

Cynde, I wish I was going to BON soon! Reall y I only know we will probably be there late this summer, as immersed as possible.
|
By Faith M. Senie on Sunday, January 19, 2003 - 11:34 pm: |
Annie B, just try to keep a sense of humor about it all (and Emma, too!), and it will be bearable. Even bad times have humor in them somewhere -- you just have to look harder. When my Dad went in for chemo/radiation for prostate cancer, he used to take printouts of jokes (clean ones!) that he found online and give them to the nurses, the techs, and his fellow patients. The nurses used to love it when he came in! Some of the other patients thought he was completely bonkers. One woman in particular was rather incensed -- "This could kill you, you know, and you're joking about it!" Dad just shrugged and told the woman "Gotta die of something sometime, don't we? Why not laugh on the way?" Apparently his comment sank in -- a couple of weeks later she apologized to him, thanked him for his wisdom and asked for a copy of the joke list... He's now past the treatment, with no sign of cancer anywhere, after several years. The jokes and laughter may not have helped, but they sure didn't hurt, either...
