Well we are having periods of sunshine in the city today

wisteria

columbines
columbines, maybe my favorite perennial

I may have to simulate a Bonaire barbecue today in nyc, tho it sounds like quite the smorgasbord, I don't think I will have quite the variety!

Seb, are those this years Peonys???Ours won't open until around Father's day!! do you have an ant problem with them??

Now here's a question: why is there no agriculture on Bonaire? Plenty of water and sunshine, seems like a natural for hydroculture, unless it is just way cheaper to get all the produce from Venezuela.

Ant problem?? Freddie, without ants you get no peonies! Mary (spousal agent) says they are essential to the flowering process.

AHHH that answers my question!! we have alot of Lady bugs eating the ants at this moment!!! When I cut the Peonys to bring inside I always leave them on the Patio table overnight.. the ants go away then and I can bring them in the house ant free..

They are multiplying throughout our yard, and we think this is a good thing, they are quite the transformative blossom, going through a wild color change.
I also have a rosemary bush that has overwintered the last three years, and a sage bush that has wintered two.
I haven't even started on the fig tree yet.

Seb there really isn't alot of rainfall in Bonaire year round. and I think the water for irrigation is probably VERY EXPENSIVE!!!

We have white peonies with pink centers as well. Our backyard is quite sheltered, it end abuts a commercial strip and is a solid wall running ne sw. Keeps it warmer and less windy year round.
Our fig tree got whacked a couple of years ago and went to ground, but it is all back now, I have to trim it to keep it from hitting the house.

HI again,

Back from doing some "domestic" duties and processing a collection of e-mails. Cheryl is in Potomac, Maryland visiting her Mom & Dad this week so I have to make sure the residence is returned to normal before her return on Tuesday!! Also, have to make sure all the "Wendy's" containers are well disposed of. :-)

Rusty - No sled dogs in our house. The cat would eat them.

How does one prepare for the festivities 1,000 miles away. Drag the deack lounge chair from the basement and set it up in the family room. See if those old "tropical tunes" LP's still play (Oh. right - where is the turntable?) get on the bathing suit - looking like a beached Beluga!!, pretend to need suntan lotion!, Large drink - with an umbrella - will the unused patio table umbrella do?, and finally - food. Does Wendy's do something with Pineapple I wonder?

Waiting for the action to begin.

mornin' gang...meryl, congratulations on your daughters graduation! that is great! and to your comment on the "home improvement thread," michael and i have been talking about revamping the house for 8 years, but we never seemed to get the energy or have the time. now that the kids are older, we have more energy. this all began becuase michael didn't want me to repaint the inside of the house, he wanted to wait until the remodel...i went and bought a big 5 gallon drum of white paint and said i was doing it anyway as the walls were in bad shape, then he decided we might as well do it! i am off to paint my bathroom today, here is bas arriving with a pan...

Cynde,

Almost certain that a mini with a big frying pan on the hood would get a double!!

I think this is under the category of "domestic terrorism" !!

Do you get called CYNDELEE when you do things like this?

Go crazy with the paint. Put some dancin' music on!
