This was tonight's sunset. The colors are so different at different times of the year, as I'm learning. Still, they just knock my socks off. I'll try to get a sunrise tomorrow, and will be so glad to be able to stick around for it and not have to get ready for work and leave. I've had a wood stork most mornings, besides the herons. Would love to see what you've got. I've got tons since we moved here in late April, just can't NOT take pics when it's so luscious. :-)

Kathy - awesome sunset shots!
Love the colors on the bottom one
You really got lucky when you bought your house - beautiful location. Something you never get tired of.

I have some sunset shots but can't post now (at work). I'll post some tomorrow - have a wedding later

Ahhh... one of my weakness too ...
Cannot refrain from posting! Thanks for the opportunity and thanks to those above for the gorgeous ones the you've posted!!

The was taken this past chilly March up the coast of Lake Huron (Canada) in a little town called Grand Bend. The shoreline has snow/ice on it. I was told that this Lake is one of the world's top 3 site for sunsets (I have not researched this tidbit and would stand corrected).

The next photo was taken in Curacao in 2005.

Ok..I consider myself pretty net savvy (boy am I going to be sorry I said that I bet!) but can't even figure out where to go to post a pic! I remember trying to do one on here a few years ago and had real trouble getting the size right..now I can't even figure out where to do it on here! Have a great sunset pic from Hawaii last week I'd love to share.

HELP!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Kathy Hall (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #6798) on Sunday, October 1, 2006 - 8:36 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

Mercy, to post a pic you just type in:

\image {pic} (btw, anything can be in the bracket, I just use numbers or letters, like 1, 2, 3 or a, b, c - some people put funny names in there!)

with no spaces, then hit post and you'll see a little black box with yellow writing in it, and the computer will ask you to browse for your picture. Find it, hit post again and voila. Make sure the pic is under 50 kbs though. You can right click on it, hit properties and see the size. Sometimes if it's too big you can take it to paint and just save it again (as a jpeg of course) and it's reduced enough.

Hi Mercy, I just had to dust off the cobwebs and went to "BIU (Formatting)" for the instructions. Your photo needs to be 50K or under to post ... I've found that under ~ 49 is a 'safe' bet. Hope this helps.

Judy, those are great pictures! Did you like Antigua? I have almost the same picture from Shirley Heights. Did you go for the party on Sunday?? I loved it there! I had a friend who lived there and we stayed in his "pool house" --- it was absolutely delicious !!

Hi Kelly & thanks!

We loved Antigua. So much so that we were married there! We stayed at Pineapple Beach which was about 1/2 hr from the airport. Made a lot of friends there too - really nice people. My husband dove with Octopus Divers by English Harbor & enjoyed the diving (heard whales once while diving & said it was awesome).
And, yes we did the party on Sunday at Shirley Heights - what a great time we had!
We'd love to go back someday but Bonaire is so very special now with all the wonderful people we've met and the diving/snorkeling can't be beat!
If we could figure a way to do both in one vacation we would but the airlines make it very difficult with connections, etc.
Where was your friend's "pool house"?

My friend was the assistant for John Fuller, who works in the government there. I cannot remember the location of the house, but it's on the northwest side, near Dickinson's Beach maybe? I got so turned around there I never knew where I was. My favorite place was half moon beach. When we went there, we were the only people there the whole day. We drank vanilla vodka and ting! Yummy !

Timmy, we have dove just at sunset and then after dark in the Keys, and OMG what an adventure. Your marker looks like Sombrero Reef, but I guess it's not. Larry and I have way too many links up on shutterfly, but if we didn't they all would be lost, so I'm glad they're there and we reminisced last night. One dive led me to sleep and dreaming about it. I will never forget one night on Looe Key on a night dive, and the silversides were so translucent giving off light, and it was so dark we could only find each other with our flashlights and light bands around our tanks, (but we were a 2 dive buddy set, so we tried to stay together, but it was a task to keep with our dive buddy and not lose the others), and then in would dash a huge nurse shark, and we'd thrill over that in a small canyon, then get back to the business of finding crabs, lobster, sleeping fish, then DASH in comes another shark. lol And it was all so pristine and so perfect. Then when we surfaced, Maria and I surfaced at the same time and at the same time, said something along the lines of OMG, at the navy sky with perfect constellations coming right down to the water, and the boat looking like it's a half a mile away, and just swimming, talking and marveling at the dive and the sky, no fear of the ocean below because we'd just been there, and finding the guys (Larry and Dan) soon after and all climbing aboard, happy to be there, happy to have experienced that, just.......happy.

I'm all for a Keys mini meet, Kelly!

Haven't made it to S. Africa yet, Paul. My mom has visited and her pictures of the country were beautiful. Enjoyed Kenya and Tanzania.

Absolutely gorgeous pics Paul. :-)

4 of our kids live in AZ, so everytime I see an AZ pic I get a pang. But they love that desert life and that big sky. I wish all of them enjoyed our ocean. It's all beautiful, but you can't beat a sunset or sunrise or a moon over water, in my book. Love your pics!

Hi ya all
Goodness it is just blissful to have this day over and to be at home and be privileged enough to witness yet another sundown.
Yea it was a long day but it was also good to hear that my good bud, living in the 'tundra' of Canada and has gone through some really tough times, is once again her chipper self :-)
A new dimension took place today when another most excellent bud, introduced me to a group of nature lovers, sharing sun pics from the Island of Bonaire, just off the northern coast of S. America - thanks you guys all, for your very warm welcome - thanks 'boom' you are one very special lass.
To be honest, I dragged my scrawny tired little tail out to take some pics tonight and despite this, I came back home inspired by the few moments I shared with the sun.
I hope you all get to enjoy and share in my moment in time.
Now it is off to making a spectacular dinner for my oldest lad and his sweet girlfriend, Miz J.
Taking off for the night now :-))
Love ya all
Yr Krazy African Bud
Paul

Very nice Paul and welcome to the looney bin. You will fit right in, one because you claim to be crazy (which is sufficient for this group) and two, you shoot a small Sony which is near and dear to my heart. Pity the poor fools who don't own one. Here's when my newest baby arrived.

Hi Cecil, thanks for the welcome and believe me that I do feel at home between all the krazy's.
Congrats on the new baby, they sure make life so interesting and full :-))
My small Sony died recently after taking about 6000 pics in the 8 months of it's life so now I am using the Sony H5

Cynde, thanks to you also for the cool welcome and very kind comments.
Krazy is always good:-)

Hi Kathy, thanks also for your kind comments, the moon pics are hit and miss but with it waxing, it will become easier to catch - I think the clear desert sky also helps with the clarity.

Wednesday sun greetings...
Hi all,
Greetings from Big Sky Arizona...
This morning started off with not even a trace of a sun pre-event but being my optimistic self, I just hung out with Miz Puppy on a raised patch of desert enjoying the brisk morning air and the start of day.
Right at 99, the sun never failed and did a brilliant but short performance - I hope you enjoy sharing in the moment.
A spectacular day to you all
Yr. Krazy African Bud
Paul

note: this space might not allow 2 of my 4 pics to show but will try anyway - if they are rejected, I will trim and repost them.

Thanks for the great shots.

Hi Paul

I know that, as a diver, I should love all marine life, but I personally don't care if I ever get up close and personal with a GW (the same with the grizzley bears on the mountain our cabin is on...I don't want to see them...I don't want them to see me)...I heard that, last year, something like 3 divers were killed by GW's in Australia...bit in half...ouch!! I watched a show about the world's most dangerous beaches, and I do belive South Africa rated high, possibly number 1...are you a Springbok rugby fan?

Cam, you know these sharks are really amazing, in Kruger Park there was two records of Zambezi Sharks recorded in the Limpopo River 400 km from the ocean - and one worries about crocodiles ha!
I did not mind getting up close and personal to the land creatures but in the water it is all their turf.
Boom mentions the elephant charging me video, Boom I will try to get it up again and let you know.

Hey all, tis frigging FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry yesterday was another on of 'those' days and I never found time to post my pics, so today is a mix of from both mornings.
Yesterdays pre-event was on of the most ethereal sun events I have ever witnessed - I awoke to a very dark overcast sky with scattered showers and a small sliver of open sky on the eastern horizon. In this dark moody morning, came a very brief but very beautiful splash of color.
The light was so poor that most of my pics were too grainy and had to be trashed but I did keep these first two for the record:-)
I hope you get to enjoy and share in both moments.
Take care and wishing you all a smashing weekend
Yr Krazy African Bud

I hope you have all had a brilliant weekend.
For the first time in a long time I chilled out and even got time to read a book and even finish it :-)
Yesterday evening the Miz Puppy and I decided to ride the railroad again to look for sun pics, so we packed some water and a few ales and hit the bumpy track...
It was a peaceful moment until a train shattered the silence and came rumbling by for the next 5 minutes - but I am not complaining, I was after all on the railroad track.
The sundown was really pretty, colorful and uplifting so he two of us headed to the local watering hole for a few more ales and to watch the night arrive.
I landed up next to a couple of over inebriated folks which was fun for a while to watch but the rest is a story for another day.
All I know is wherever I go, the action always finds me :-)
I hope you all have a truly phenomenal week ahead.
