Hi ya'll, I have a book dated 1920 and I don't know what language. I think it's poetry. Also, some of the type is hard to read, so I'll do my best.

Cafar Flaif(c)hlen (not sure if that's a c or a fancy h)
Heimat und Welt
Vuswewahlte Gedidte in Bers und Brofa (that might be Oedidte)

If anyone can give me a translation, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks
CindyR

The second word is most likely "gedichte", meaning "poems".

Cäsar Flaischlen, 1864-1920, was a German poet and songwriter. Lots of web entries in English about him. (With and without the umlaut in "Cäsar")

Just noticed that it took 29 minutes before you had a response. My personal apologies for the delay.

I don't know why I let people lead me astray like this:

Gedichte in Vers und Prosa - Poems in verse and prose.

Not making sense of "Vuswewahlte" - Could you make another stab at it?

Just noticed that I skipped by "Heimat und Welt" - Homeland and World.

Also, how about "ausgewählte" - "selected"?

That makes it: Homeland and World,

selected poems in Verse and Prose.

This one:

heimat

Hi David, we went out for a bit and I'm just getting home.

That's the book. Thanks so much. I was really having a hard time with some of the letters. We've been collecting stuff from friends and family in order to have a benefit yard sale. The proceeds will go to my aunt & uncle to help cover his medical expenses. This is one of the items donated and none of us could read it. We're trying to decide if some of it should be auctioned instead.

I really appreciate the translation. That's why I love this place so much. Always someone around to help.

Thanks David, we put a price of $8 on it, so I was pretty close. I really appreciate the effort you put into this. :-)
