My friend Steve, who I was going on holiday with to Margarita this morning, along with his wife Ann and my other half Jeanie, telephoned the Airline to check on our reservations yesterday, as he had heard nothing from them regarding our on-line payment that was made ages ago........well a few days after the last holiday was cancelled due to the burglary and our passports being stolen.

He called me at 12:00 yesterday to inform me that although the booking company had confirmed he reservation and had taken full payment for the 'big seat' reservations five weeks ago, they had failed to inform the airline that we had done just so.

To cut a long story short..this trip to Margarita has been cancelled the day before we were due to go yet again.

We have already been informed by them that they are willing to pay £1,000 per person as compensation for the loss of the holiday and we should receive an email to this effect today.

This admission of culpability will be forwarded to my barrister in Manchester asap.

To quote his Irish reposte " I will have the skin off their ******* backs for this"

Yikes Simon! Ok...Karma is three-fold. Maybe Karma is protecting you. Your third trip might be the one you are expected to take. The universe might have been protecting you from harm by intervening in these two trips.

Then again...it might just be bad luck. I like the optimistic spin on things.

Simon very sorry to hear about you trip being cancelled again. I was thinking about you yesterday and was wondering if you guys were going. Guess not, major suckage.

On the other hand I was also thinking about the wisdom of Margarita. I have not heard very good things about that island. Maybe the right karma is to try for another island. I do realize that Margarita is a less expensive place but the talent on this board can probably get you a better island for the same price (or less).

Cecil..the money is not the issue here...it never has been. We were going to look to buy some properties to rent out as a revenue stream for when I retire somewhere in the Caribbean...preferably on Bon. I am nearly 50 and I want to have stopped working in a couple of years time.

I have not come across any bad reports as yet about Isla Margarita. If there are any then I'd obviously like to know. You can drop me a mail at my addy on the name link thingy. Tks.

Tough break again, I hope things get better and you get a holiday. Sounds like the booking company has the Shidas Touch, that's similar to the Midas Touch only things don't turn to gold.

Simon, I am so sorry for you and Jeanie. I like Jeannie's explaination though, never thought about karma working FOR you. Still, very upsetting to say the least for you and Jeanie. Big hugs to you both.

Unbelievably awful that this has happened to you. I too agree with Jeanine - karma and fate are working for you, not against. Big hugs to you and Jeanie.

Simon my comment was based on looking at Margarita in the past which always came up as an inexpensive place but the travel agents warned us about high crime and lousy accomadations. Here's a link to some comments on the scuba board. It does not seem like there are many good opinions of the place.

Simon, sorry to hear about the mess-up...again. We have never been to Isla Margarita but have been warned not to go there as it is dangerous and that you can't leave the walled-in grounds of the resorts, etc. without fear of harm outside the walls. I guess if you remain inside the "fortress" you are safe. But, like I said...we have never experienced the place ourselves but a friend of ours from Bonaire did warn us not to go there a while back.
