I've got Dan coverage but wondered what it costs to see a doctor, dentist, or visit the emergency room in Bonaire. My policy here in the U.S. covers me when I'm abroad (I have to pay and then get reimbursed)so do I need additional travel coverage? Does the presence of the medical school assure good care? Thanks.

I have a friend who between the couple one of them is always checking into the hospital each visit for one thing or another and they think it is a great hospital. we have not had any problem with the insurance. If you are that concerned I would call the company and ask

What I wondered about is if I need travel medical insurance in addition to the DAN insurance. DAN provides decompression and transportation back to the U.S. but nothing medical unless it's dive related.

Hi Bill, I may be mistaken but I believe that DAN insurance covers any medical emergency as long a you are 50 mile away from your home.. So if you would have broken your leg stumbling from a party in Belize yesterday, DAN medical insurance would have kicked and covered what you needed.. Again I could be mistaken or have a different plan but I am pretty sure it covers all medical emergencys...not necessarily just dive accidents..
