Just in case anyone was wondering what Cynde and Kelly are up to...it appears that Dr. Doo has convinced them to join the OSU Marching Band!

Anyone else been able to catch a glimpse of their little weekend get together?

I got a call from Cynde when she was sitting on a Plane in Atlnata on her way to Columbus so she made it that far. I haven't heard from the divas since then. From the looks of all the pictures they must be too busy to check in with us. I am sure Ohio will never be the same.

I fly to Atlanta today. I think Cynde is flying home today. Maybe I will run into her in the big airport.

ROFLMAO

There are some really funny, creative people on this board. I love it.

Cynde is flying back through Newark (NJ not Ohio where Kelly lives) so I won't get to see her in the Atlanta airport today.

OK, trip report:
I arrived on time, and Steph, Kelly's daughter had made me a welcome sign...Steph is the sweetest, most polite 16 year old I think I have ever met, I wanted to take her home with me!
welcome.jpg

We went to the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) lodge and I got to meet Marty and Tina, Kelly's "other" best friends:-) All I can say, is that martini's are CHEAP in Ohio!

Saturday - I woke up with the stomach flu (no, it wasn't the martinis). I managed to get sick on Kelly's brand new towel that she hadn't had a chance to use yet, and to get sick in her new car...niiice...I hope she invites me back....I managed to pull myself together because we were supposed to go into Columbus for a BT mini-meet, and came down stairs to meet Steph's boyfriend Bryant, and Steve, Kelly's flame:-) I thought I was looking soooooo cool and swava (suave) from California, and Kelly looks at me and said: "What IS that hanging from your coat Cynde?" I look down, and it was a "pa__y liner"...niiiice....I grabbed it and proceeded to roll on the floor laughing and snorting (really)...boy do I know how to make an impression! I swear, her cat Sophie got into ALL of my things and messed with them...here is the little devil Sophie..
sophie.jpg

We leave for Columbus, and I wanted to drive by "the basket" to take some pictures. This thing is 7 stories tall, and has got to be the most "interesting" think I think I have ever seen (and I've been to quite a few states)...
basket.jpg
basket1.jpg
basketcynde.jpg

OK, we stop by Kelly's parents to meet them and are on our way to Columbus...I manage to get sick as soon as we get on the freeway, so if you saw someone leaning out of a nice BMW off the highway...it was me...so, we go BACK to Kelly's parents to get MORE plastic bags...made it to Columbus and got a table at PF Changs...Bob Neer and his friend Judy showed up and it was very nice meeting Bob in person after almost 3 years of chatting! He was such a sweetheart, bought Kelly and I lunch, and made 3 CD's of his photos of Bonaire!
cds.jpg

Cynde, Kelly, Bob and Judy
btgang.jpg

After lunch we headed back to Kelly's and I headed to bed still sick...although we did have a nice 1AM girls chat:-)

Sunday - Man, I'm back to normal! Whew! Kelly, Steph and I manage to be super lazy and just hung around the house chatting, blah blah blah until 3, so we hit the local mall...can I tell you that clothes in Ohio are CHEAP??? About half the price of what I pay in California, so needless to say I bought a "few" things! On our way back to the house we stopped by the bar where Kelly bartends (well did, until the riblet incident).
jugz.jpg
cyndekellyjugz.jpg

Sunday night we went out to dinner with Steve, Tina and Marty...fliet mignon, salad, veggies and rolls for 12 bucks! Did I tell you that food is CHEAP in Ohio??? I love this place!
Steve, Kelly, me, Tina, Marty
texas.jpg

Monday - More girl talk and then it's off to the airport...took a few more pics on our way to Columbus. Newark is really a cute little town. This is the courthouse in the middle of town square.
courthouse.jpg

And, Newark is in Licking County, and I just think that is such a funny name...
licking.jpg

More later, and Kelly will add things (I think Bob has some pictures too)...I need to go study for an exam Friday night!

Glad your travels were safe and on time.

Seb,

The riblet incident is Kelly's slip on the ice back in January when she broke her ribs. She has been confined to several weeks of stall rest. you can see how well she listens to her doctor.

birdy You sure it wasn't just sheer excitement, the little whoopsie incidents? LOL I did that the first day of school every year until I graduated from college at 30 years old. Then there were the birthday parties, the school plays, the driving test, meeting Freddie and Jenni. I'm kidding about the Freddie and Jenni part.

I'm sorry you were sick - but if you can't barf on your friend's new towel - where can ya barf?

You look like you all had a great time. Viva la BT!

Cynde,
Thanks for the report. Can you believe the cost of living in Ohio VS California (or Colorado)? I'm sure it's all relative..wages vs. cost. We could move to Alaska and spend even more!
Anyway, glad you had a great time (illness excepted) and thanks for the photos...look for Barbara to use them later! HA!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Cynde (BonaireTalk Deity - Post #10504) on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 - 5:47 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Susan, I really can't believe the cost of living difference. I know there is a cost of living difference, but things are twice as expensive out here. I'm now going to take a trip to Ohio annually to do my shopping!

Addendum:

Flight home...what a nightmare! After the flight out of SJ last July, I've become a little "freaky" about flying. Guess that's what taking off during a hurricane will do for one's psyche...as we are just ready to touch down in Newark, NJ, NY city skyline in the background...empire state building was crystal clear (I should have taken pics)...anyway, just as we are ready to touch down, the pilot pulls up hard and aborts the landing. Everyone on the plane starts freaking and you hear "what's happening, why did he do that..." As we are heading for NY the guy next to me says "There's a terrorist on board and we're heading for NY city." I look at him (with a VERY MEAN look and said "That is SO NOT FUNNY" you $#%$#$!!!") We make another loop and land...whew...sigh of relief. The pilot comes on speaker and says "I'm sure you are all wondering about what just happened, we were a little busy to inform you of the situation." It appears that the plane that landed right before us was taking his time taxiing and was still on the runway as we were ready to touch down, so the tower requested that we pull up and abort the landing.

OK, off the plane and on to the next. I'm sitting leaning on my backpack (Kelly wore me out) and a cop comes over and stands in front of me (what did I do now is what I'm thinking)...so I'm watching him trying to figure out what he is doing. Then 6 cops come up and surround a guy one row over and take him aside. They are all huddled around him, handcuff him, and have him in a corner of the flight gate next to ours. Then they grab a paper from him and come over to our gate and hand it to the attendant and she looks, they chat...and then announce the boarding of our plane. Can you spell PANIC ATTACK??? OK, I'm totally convinced I'm going to die. I came so close to walking away and not getting on the plane. But I persevere. As we are waiting to actually go through the plane door an officer comes by us, gets on the plane, then about 5 minutes later comes out...niiice...I feel so much better. I call Michael in a panic as soon as I get my seat...my mantra became "they wouldn't take off if there was any danger." over and over and over...well, other than the fact that the guy 1 seat over from me was drunk and really annoying (to the gal sitting next to me) and that the people in front of me were whacked by the time we landed, all was well. One guy was so drunk he asked the flight attendant as we were ready to land "where his coat and suitcase were." duh...ok, have another round dude!

What a GREAT weekend we had. I just love my little cactus flower. I don't know if I have anything to add. Cynde's reaction to the giant basket was priceless.

We had a great time, as you can tell, and I can't wait to see her again.

I am most interested, however, in Bob being escorted from Easton.... Bob.... do tell...

I do want to add that Spongebob is GREAT. I had met him before, in Bonaire, but didn't get to talk to him as much as I would have liked. This time, we had time to chat, and really enjoyed it. His friend Judy was absolutely charming. Best of all, Bob bought our lunch, which we were not expecting. It was such a nice gesture, I was so happy! If you ever get a chance to meet him in person, do so, he is lots of fun and takes great pics!!!

THANK YOU BOB FROM THE DONKEY DIVAS!

Barbara,
Great pics.

Cynde,
I hate when they pull up and abort the landing at the last minute. I have had that happen a few times because a plane in front us stalled or blacked the runway. It does make you wonder what is going on when it first happens. The worst part is that you have to get in the back of the line (the only time that happens is at busy airports where they are landing planes one after another) and it usually delays your landing by half an hour or more. I missed a connecting flight in Atlanta once when we did that.

Kelly,
I am coming to Columbus next week. If I get sick can I come stay with you until I feel better? Could you go out and buy a new towel? I don't want to use the same one Cynde used. I know we met in Bonaire but I don't think we got time to talk much either. Maybe we can find time to sit down so I can talk to you more ;-P

Dr. Doo

Dr. Doo, thanks for telling me it's happened to you a few times. Believe it or not that actually makes me feel better (that the pilots are used to it). The guy next to me joking however, wasn't funny!

Towel was immediately thrown in the trash, so if you plan on going and getting sick, she will probably have a sign on her front door that you need to bring your own plastic bags and towels...I need to go to Target online and buy her a couple more and send to her...oh, and you REALLY need to hook up and talk to her more...she is wonderful ;-)

Martin, I really almost didn't get on that plane in Newark...I was near hysterical tears after all the cops and all...

I have to say, that Kelly is the best friend, she took care of me when I was sick all over her nice and new things, and was just a sweetheart...if you only knew what she had to endure and was a trooper and caring the whole time. Kelly, the towels are in the mail:-)

I love Steph:-) You're right, I would do the same for you except I would have to have a towel and bag for me too...I don't do well with the bodily fluid thing! Dr. Doo, you're right...I should just send her the buck 25 and call it even...no, I owe her much more than that as well as she took care of me:-)

Steph was so cute. We were talking about when I asked Kelly to house sit with me last summer, and how we had never met, and Steph was like "don't come crying to me if she is a psycho killer or a 600 pound man!" I was dying laughing! They all thought she was crazy for spending 10 days with someone she met on the "net." Funny, Michael didn't seem to worry at all...should I be worried?
