Morning Rusty...where is everyone? I about spit tea all over my monitor when I saw what Cecil had done to Jenni! LOL!

OK folks, these fires are getting more in number and it is just horrible. The air today is just filled with smoke. I managed to get another picture on the way home last night. Doheny Beach...

Time to call in Smokey the Rock!

I haven't seen this morning's news on the fires - I hope they aren't heading for my brother again.

It's terrible - we all want to live in the woods or on the coast or on a cliffside with a wonderful view and WHOOSH - Mother Nature pushes us back from where we didn't belong in the first place. It was the same on the strand in Daytona Beach/Ponce Inlet where I lived for a while. The erosion was constantly eating away at the dunes and homes whenever a big storm would come up the coast.

Hello everyone -
Cynde - hate the fact that you guys are in such a state!!! The beach sure does look strange with all of that smoke.
I did mean to say yesterday that I loved the pics of the kids - both are beautiful!!!

Rusty - no I am not ready for halloween - but I did manage to buy candy the last time I was in Target. Have not done any decorating and do not know if I will - haven't even bought a pumpkin yet - we had too much rain this year and the farmers have very few pumpkins for sale - slim pickings.

clock MM, my clock is always spastic. It's been off for a year or more. I was worried that it was my computer battery running down but it seems to just be wacky. So I guess you have to watch for long overdue mail. LOL

Jenni, so you're saying that Little Nell is a relative. You never know. Glad you liked, I sure did get a kick out of it.

wow Cecil - it was just perfect. You know how sometimes something is working and you're cracking up because it's as good or BETTER than you'd hoped. LOL Wonderful! (Who knew you had a secret stash of photos of Jenni? Hmm?)

mary That's IOWA? BB and I just got back from the park and that looks so much like some of the pix we took today that I did a double-take! We were supposed to have clouds and rain all week - not a mention of a day like today. It's crystal clear - pix to follow after I resize.

Jenni, so are you going as Nell? Mary, kewl pics:-) Well, I am coughing more today, obviously because of all the smoke. I am still on the inhaler and nebulizer, so hopefully those will keep things going in the right direction and I won't relapse...holy cow....

Hi All,

Just got this from Michael...he works in San Diego...the smoke here is thick, but it isn't orange like it was over the weekend...

quote:

"just went outside and it is creepy weird out there. its a real dark orange, and I mean dark like the sun just went down. all the cars have their headlights on. to freaky weird."

weird Cynde, you all need gas masks or something. Are they diverting flights??

wave Off to dinner in a couple minutes - try to stop back after we veg out and watch a movie. LOL Quality time.

Rusty, I don't know about diverting flights. A lot of folks in San Diego are wearing masks. We have had to keep all our windows shut because of the smell and ash coming in. Get this...

Southern California is on fire, and 3 major grocery store employees are on strike...what else can go wrong? I dont' even want to think about it!

Cynde - what a mess - be careful with breathing that ash - you don't want it to get you sick again!!

Got to leave - it is pitch black and pouring down rain outside - not looking forward to the hour drive home!!!

Hi Mary - weather sounds awful. Hope you have a safe and uneventful drive home. Where is NC?

Cynde - you take care of yourself, you hear! Get one of those face masks on like they do for sars

Rusty - The photos are stunning. Thanks for sharing your bridges and vistas

Hi Cecil

Hola Minela - Son fantasticas las fotos de Rusty, verdad? - Aren't Rusty's photos fantastic?

Meeting was boring. Loads folks rang in with apologies and we hadn't got a quorum. After chatting and having coffee and biscuits for 15mins the few of us there decided we'd do most of the meeting [otherwise next month's will be a marathon] but we can't vote on anything without the quorum. What a pain! I would have loved to stay in and have quality time with Kev vegging out as Rusty puts it. tv

Going to get up early and speak with puter man about why the [new] scanner will not scan my wonder woman photo. I know it will be real hard for all of you to sleep not having seen it, but you will have to contain your selves the best you can until tomorrow.

Thanks Diana! According to the news last night, they only have the fires 10% contained! It seems cooler this morning, which means the winds have changed and we have a westerly flow, which is good. It will know blow back over the areas burned, and there isn't anything to burn anymore.
