What is the average cost of renting a dive light (4 AA battery size) for a day or for a week?

They cost $30 here in Manhattan and I don't know if that is reasonable.

I have never gone night snorkeling and I am really looking forward to it!

they recommended that you have your own extra batteries on hand though!

Is it worth it to spend $30 each to buy our own lights? They would pay for themselves after 6 nights of night snorkeling. I know it's such a small expense compared to the cost of the trip, but they're awfully small for $30!

"is it worth it" depends totally on how often you plan to use them :-)

Night snorkels are fun. Enjoy the tarpon who come in and hunt for their dinner by your lights ! It's a surprise at first, then fun to suddenly find them darting in and out around you. They are big !

City Girl, et al.
I just returned from 4 weeks of uw time on Bonaire. I used the MegaBrite AquaMax v. 2.0. This is a self-powered LED, that needs NO batteries. It was about $23 at Target. It was plenty powerful for nighttime aquatic activities. It is the next generation of self-powered flashlights.

that is a cool looking flashlight. I bought non-waterproof self-powered flashlights for each car for $5 each. They come in handy, plus no leaky batteries to worry about, especially when left in a hot car.

That is a good idea Bub, except it is only leak proof to 33 fsw... OK for a snorkeler...

Hey Ron. The question was about snorkeling. It worked great at night, has a xenon light, crank up charger and floats. no batteries is a real plus.

Blonde D. Well 4 weeks is addictive, I know, but still not enough. I missed capturing a Caribbean Banded Box Jelly by a day........
When are you going back?

hey bud, thinking maybe sept. I just heard from Kevin down there that June and July have been RAINY like never before. Still looking to buy a piece of property down there. Probably will scout it out Sept or Oct. BUT 4 WEEKS! You've got to get a place down there.
