A recent outdoor magazine recommended Tyr mini-fins for snorkeling. They look attractive for traveling, but how effective are they in the water?

I use mini fins all the time for snorkeling. They are great fot while you are at the surface, but I need a little weight to get me under( I do not use a skin). I can usually keep up with a group without any problems. Im not sure what brand I bought as I leave them on island.

I have the zip fins, too. I use them for pool swimming, though. I use my big fins for snorkeling, but if space was a problem, I think they would perform very well in open water. Now I'll have to take them with me next trip and find out for myself!

Where as I am in the water for 15-20 minutes at a time. I found that they worked for me just fine. I am mostly at the surface or shallow waters. The few times that I went out on the Woodwind, they were fine. I tired more, but I think it was because of the length of the snorkle. If you are going to be doing alot of snorkeling, and for extensive swims, I would not recommend them.
