Can anyone give a few pointers on which snorkel sites were the least disrupted by Lenny? (Like having big elkhorn and staghorn coral near shore, etc...)

Joe, look through "trip reports" and find the one by Mary Mueller last summer. She is a snorkeler, and got some fantastic pictures and saw a lot of nice things.

Joe,

Do a 'Keyword search' (at the bottom of the page here) on Mary's name to find her reports.

Basically, on the west side of Bonaire, you can snorkel in down to 3-4 feet of water from the power plant to Sand Dollar, and from zero (at the water's edge) from Sand Dollar to the south end of the island. More than ten miles of snorkelling. In addition to shallow snorkelling at the marked dive sites north of the power plant. And, on the east side, in the mangrove swamps and around Lac Bay.

Likely enough for you to find your own favorite spots. :–)

Definitely try Renee Snorkle Trips! www.reneesnorkletrips.com She is excellent and is very reasonable regarding her prices and is EXTREMELY knowledgable about the snorkling on Bonaire.

Joe - since my name was brought up in this thread - I feel obligated to say something - not that I needed an excuse before ( beat you to saying that Cynde!!!LOL!!!)!!!

Some of the best shallow snorkeling I did was on the south end of the island - if you do look up my trip report - that was Hidden Beach and Tori's Reef - with Hidden beach being my favorite!!!
If you want some big coral - however most is dead with new life starting to appear in it - go to Wayaka in the park. It is an easy entrance from a sandy beach and the coral formations are huge. Lenny did kill the coral there - but it still teaming with life and has so much new life growing on in - it was AWESOME!!!!! You can send me an e-mail if you need more info.

Mary, let me add my 2-cents

Wayaka II has some nice coral formations. I guess it had some shelter from the first reef that piled up in front of it

Bob - Great pic of the Wayaka beach. To make it even better - there is a little cave right next to the person sitting on the yellow beach towel - great place to get out of the sun - when it becomes too much!!!

Once again, thanks for all the great responses!
Great trip reports Mary! Sounds like you really enjoyed it.
I will definitely check out Wayaka and the other recommendations.
