Hi Folks,
Great forum, wish I would have found it before previous Bonaire trips.
Any advice on diving the windward side of Bonaire? We went last time with Larry, had a great time but I heard he sold his business. Will be there next week. Is shore entry a reasonable possibility for experienced divers? Do you recc guides? Would probably not bring the camera if shore diving though, so are there other reputable operators w/boat access? If so thinking about video. Thanks in advance.

Hi EJ.

There is an company operating on the windward side. You can check them out on this link: http://www.bonaireeastcoastdiving.com/

I am sure that you will be in good hands.

Hi EJ, Larry sold his boat, but not his business, actually he has bought a new boat. Saw Larry this past November and it was to be delivered this month, not sure when he will be starting up his business again, but maybe worth a call or email to him. :-)

Thanks Antony that looks like a good operation.
Debbie, I'll try Larry at his previous email or is there a new one? Thanks much.

If you are looking for shore diving on the east side, check with Bas Noij or Bas Tol as guides. Their emails can be found by doing a search on this board (I'd give them to you , but I"m at work and don't have them handy:-))

If you dont mind current and can navigate reasonably well, Cai is an excellent dive. Drop in at the conch shells and swim straight north. You'll hit the drop off at about 200 yds. On the way, its turbulent and cloudy but chances are good for tarpon and eagles. It clears at the dropoff and is a nice dive. Save some air for the return - you might have to work a little.

If you arent in good shape, I wouldnt recommend it.

Shouldn't this thread be in the Diving Bonaire section?

Yep Eric sorry about that, newbie here.

RE east coast divers-it looks like one of their motors is still out of commission.

I'll see about Cai with a guide-thanks guys.

Greetings everyone. Arriving Feb 14 for week of diving. Previously stayed last Feb 2009 for only 2 days due to family emergency back home. Play blues harmonica. Any juke joints in town?
