Greetings from our favorite island. One week is NOT long enough - remember that when planning your next trip to Bonaire. Let me repeat, on week is NOT LONG ENOUGH.

The diving has been wonderful, the weather has been beautiful, the locals have been fantastic. We have to go back to the 'real world' tomorrow. sigh!!

Sounds like you've had an excellent vacation.
Do you plan on posting a trip report after returning to the 'real world'?

MzFish..Glad you enjoyed your stay. You state what many of us have discovered a long time ago. In fact I suspect if you had a graph of all the return trips by past visitors to the island, you would definitely notice a pronounced pattern. The subsequent trips will tend to get longer & longer. Look forward to reading your trip report.

That's why we planned a 2 week stay for our first trip to Bonaire! Somehow we just knew that a week wouldn't be long enough.

Believe me, after several 2-week stays, I'm beginning to question whether that's long enough!

After 20+ years of spending time on Bonaire, three weeks seems to be the ticket.

MzFish:

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Coming from SEA, it is just a long way to BON (although both AE and CO flights are much, much better than ALM was). My first trip was a week as well -- way too short. Of course, I think we did 20 dives in those five days...

Then the trips were two weeks for several years. Then about 17 days. Then three weeks. I seem to have settled on three weeks on BON, plus travel time to/from SEA. (Finding the laundromat makes longer stays easier).

Three weeks. I like the sound of that. Yes. Three weeks.

I've still got the travel stupids. Four hours plus three hours on the plane, then 3 hours to my sister's house for a couple hours sleep, then 7 hours in a car again. But I'm home now. My own bed. Yeah.

Why the road trip instead of flying straight into our own airport? $1400.00 difference. Worth driving a few hours for that.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch: We caught up with the dog, the house sitter, the neighbors, the neighbor dog, the neighbor baby... Downloaded the dive computers and re-checked the dive logs... Mowed the back yard after thanking the neighbor for mowing the front yard...

The BC is soaking in the bathtub and the clothes out of the suitcase are in a hamper waiting to go downstairs.

I found a fruit drink, rum and a few ice cubes, and they were all BEGGING to be put in the blender together. I topped it off with my little wooden flamingo from 'Nancy' the bartender at Lion's Den.

Life is good.

Love you guys!

We were there the same time as you MzFish and we totally agree, 1 week is not long enough. :-( We are both looking at each other every day since we got back and saying "we should have stayed longer" or "I want to go scuba diving" lol.

Next time we'll stay for 2 weeks and probably have the same complaints when we leave.

We were so jealous sitting in the airport watching people get off the plane we were about to leave on. And thinking "we had no idea there were people sitting here thinking the same thing about us a week ago" lol.

Matt & Lila
