This was our second trip to Bonaire this year. We were there for the first time in February. We flew Continental again. We went through Houston on the way there but came through Newark on the way back. This gave us an extra day in Bonaire but we had a 5 hour layover that made it a very long day. All flights were on time and the only problem was the screaming babies from Houston to Bonaire.

We stayed at Sun Oceanfront Apartments once again. I like the location and Bert at the dive shop is great. The night before we were going to leave we couldn't get the safe open that had our passports in it. We called the Sun emergency line and they came out and were eventually able to get it open.

We were able to get in 20 dives during the week. We did most of our dives at the sites we didn't get to last time. We were afraid of 1000 steps the first time but we did it and it wasn't so bad. We saw a lot of different sea life this time. We saw turtles, octopus, squid and spotted eagle rays in addition to the usual fish. We had a pair of sandals stolen at 1000 steps and a bathing suit and t-shirt taken at Margate Bay. If anyone sees someone wearing a gray Belize t-shirt let me know. I rented a video camera from Fish-Eye Photo. The on/off switch broke and I had to get their backup camera. This was the first time I had used a video camera on a dive and it turned out great. I have to pay for the repair to the first camera. They said they would refund the difference between my deposit and the cost of the repair. Does anyone know the guys at Fish-Eye?

We ate at all the usual places although Donna and Giorgio's was closed. Wil's Tropical Grill was our favorite this time.

We made it up to Slagbaai Park this time. If I knew the road was so rough I probably wouldn't have gone. The scenery is great though.

Hopefully it won't be too long before we get back to Bonaire.

Luca, glad to hear you had a good trip and that you gave 1000 Steps a try. On our last trip we did 1000 Steps for snorkeling on our last day when we could not dive. We have now done it as a boat dive and a snorkel - very nice either way! Have you planned your next trip back yet ?? :-)

I'm not sure when we'll get back to Bonaire. We're going to Hawaii in June.

Luca, which Hawaiian island are you planning to dive? We're going to Kona in the spring.

We'll be in Hilo for a day to attend a wedding but we'll be diving on Maui.

I dove on Maui and also at Hanama Bay many years ago. It was really beautiful.

Kona rocks! We dove there end of last May. Shore diving, naturally. We stayed up by Waikoloa, and used Kohala Divers, a great crew.

Do you know any good dive shops on Maui? How is the shore diving there?

Maui shore diving is fine. Try this kink. #1 is a favorite. It is a bit of a hike into it but always turtles on the left side of the bay.

I did some shore diving in Maui as well and used Maui Divers. Pretty good operation as I recall.
